Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD), New Delhi was established in 2015. The institute is approved by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). IIAD offers Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) courses in the field of design. Admission to UG and PG courses at IIDA New Delhi is done on the basis of candidates performance in iDAT/ iMAT followed by a personal interview. Merit-cum-means based IIAD scholarships are available to eligible students of the institute.

Dr. Jitin Chadha. Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD) is an independent design school that was established in 2015. IIAD's collaboration with Kingston School of Art provides its students with a world-class education and a globally recognized degree. IIAD was founded with the goal of bridging gaps and building bridges between industry and academia, by transforming how design is taught, learned and practiced in India. The teaching pedagogy at IIAD is designed to foster collaboration, with a focus on conceptual understanding. Students are encouraged to bring their own unique story into the classroom, shaping their individual journey. Project-based learnings,mentoring by industry practitioners, live projects and on-site internships shape students into competent design professionals with leadership qualities to take on the challenges of our fast-changing world.

Careers360. Tell us something about the admission process?
Dr. Jitin Chadha. IIAD has a limited number of seats for each programme. This means applicants who apply early and clear the entrance test in the initial admission cycle, have a higher likelihood of being accepted for the programme of their choice.
IIAD offers UG programmes in Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Communication Design, Interior Architecture & Design and Fashion Business Management. Candidates with 10+2 or equivalent in any stream (Science, Commerce, Humanities/Arts) with an aggregate of a minimum of 50% are eligible to apply to our undergraduate programmes.
IIAD also offers a postgraduate programme in Fashion Business Management. Candidates with a graduation degree in any stream or discipline from a recognised university are eligible to apply. Final-year graduate students or students awaiting results may also apply for our postgraduate programme.
The screening process at IIAD aims to test the merit of a candidate based on their aptitude for design learning. The IIAD Entrance test has two components, which vary based on the course you apply for.

iDAT
IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT) is a written test designed to assess a candidate’s creative and visual ability, cultural awareness, and logical thinking. The exam paper consists of a series of different types of tasks: visual tasks, writing tasks, one-word answer questions, and multiple-choice questions.
iMAT
IIAD Management Aptitude Test (iMAT) is used to assess an applicant's language, logical reasoning, and creative thinking capabilities. The exam paper contains multiple choice questions and writing tasks.

Careers360. What kind of infrastructure can students expect at the institute? Please elaborate?
Dr. Jitin Chadha. Indian Institute of Art and Design, New Delhi is spread across 85,000 sq ft. The campus offers modern amenities to students for holistic development. IIAD Facilities are as follows: Construction Labs, Pattern Making Lab, Computer (MAC) Labs, Material Transformation Lab, Professional Grade Photography Studio and Lab, Printmaking Studio, Fully-equipped Workshops & Exhibition Area, Photography Lab and In-Campus Canteen.
Careers360. There is a lot of stress that is being made with regard to interaction with the industry as well as companies that recruit. What are the steps being taken by the institute in this direction?
Dr. Jitin Chadha. We have a dedicated Career Services Division (CSD). The CSD team at IIAD supports students to achieve their professional goals. They work to help students prepare for a placement with mock interviews, one-on-one counseling and workshops in portfolio development, CV writing and interview skills. They provide a number of internship opportunities for those aiming for placements that match their specific focus within the industry.
The CSD team has been instrumental in helping 91% of students find placement opportunities in well-known companies, such as IBM, Gartner, E&Y, Cognizant, Yatra, Fab India, House of Masaba, Incubis, Design Plus Architects, Studio Lotus and H&M. Careers360. Internships are now mandatory as per AICTE guidelines. Does the institute help students with this? If yes, how?
Dr. Jitin Chadha. Internships are integrated into the course curriculum for all the programmes at IIAD. IIAD believes that the experience of an internship programme is a critical component of the learning process across all our different programmes. Experiential learning and Industry exposure are cornerstones of the learning process at IIAD. The Career Services Division (CSD) team at the institute assists students in exploring internship opportunities throughout the duration of their course. At the end of the 1st year, students get their first industry interface with an 8-week Learn On-site internship, focused on multidisciplinary learning experiences. Students in the third year (Level 5) are required to mandatorily complete a Career Building Internship of 16 weeks duration, at the end of which they are awarded credits based on their performance. So in a four year programme our students go through (8+16) weeks of internship to get the on-site learning experience. The dedicated Career Services Division works to link the aspirations of the students to the needs of the industry. The CSD department is connected with more than 160 top brands and helps students in getting relevant internships in brands like Yatra, Cognizant, Fab India, House of Masaba, Incubis, Design Plus Architects, Studio Lotus and more.

International Collaboration: IIAD graduates are privileged to be alumni of both IIAD and Kingston. They graduate with globally recognized degrees that open doors to new and exciting opportunities.
International Transfers: Due to IIAD’s collaboration with Kingston University, students in the degree programme have the opportunity to transfer abroad to complete their studies.
