Yes, you can opt for fashion designing as your program for future studies with a background in English literature but some colleges ask for a bachelor in fashion designing to allow the student to go for master in fashion designing. No, unfortunately you cannot give entrance exam for NIFT online at home, you have to fill the application form for examination, then you will get the admit card for appearance at the examination centre, and you have to give your exam at the alloted examination centre.and that's the only way to give exam.

National Institute of Fashion Technology conducts the NIFT exam to offer admission to the design aspirants in B.Des , B.FTech, M.Des and M.FTech.
Unfortunately NIFT 2021 has already been conducted on February 14 and has released the NIFT 2021 answer key for General Ability Test (GAT) in online mode on February 17.

If you are going for NIFT examination then there no mention of the date before or the validity of the test by the NIFT administration. But as per the official government data the COVID 19 test is valid for 72 Hours or 3 days.
National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi was established in 1986, the tremendous turning point in the history of Fashion industry. It was well recognized by the Government of India, Ministry of Textile with the collaboration of FIT, New York. The Institute provides a common platform for fashion education, research and training.
There are 16 NIFTs in India with most of them having good infrastructure, curriculum and training facilities. Though you may get a NIFT at lower ranks, I would suggest you to target atleast AIR 500 in Common Merit List, to secure the flagship program ( Bachelor in Fashion Technology/Design) in some of the Better NIFTs.
