how to check merit rank of nift

Yash Dev Student Expert 17th Mar, 2020

Hello student you can check the merit rank of nift entrance examination on your results declared by NIFT on 13th March 2020.

In case if you've applied for B.design course then you need to appear for situation test if you've clear the entrance examination. And after calculating both the results of Gat and MAT your rank will be declared.

My common merit rank is 351 in nift entrance exam and category rank is 60 in OBC ncl. What are the chances of getting admission in the NIFT campuses in metropolitan cities?

Aashima Puri 15th Mar, 2020

Hey aspirant,

You haven't mentioned the particular course that you are willing to take admission in. There are plenty of courses available in NIFT and the cutoffs differ for all of them in all cities.

Further, you can check previous year's cutoff to get an exact idea about your choice of course and the course rank required for admission in all the metropolitan and other cities too.

My sister is appearing for 12th boards in Feb,2020, she plans to do B.Des. She has given NIFT exam but without preparation so the chances for it are negligible. I want to get insights related to B.Des : Colleges, about different fields in B.Des, ROI of colleges, scope of the Course, etc. KindlyHelp

Archita Aggarwal 26th Jan, 2020

Hi Surbhi

It's okay if your sister does not clear nift entrance, there are lot of private universities like Pearl Academy,IIAD etc that she apply for. They have very easy entrance, all you need there is a good portfolio and confidence that's it. Don't worry she will get into one soon

Hope this answer helps.

Hi Sanket

Passing marks may vary every year.

As you might know , nift entrance consist of cat-50% gat-30% and situation test-20%. So if you scored well in written exam you can easily get among top 2000 and get selected for situation test.

Marks vary year to year. Your performance in situation test will actually decide your rank.

All the best !!

Hope it helps :)

When we have to give nift exam? After 12 or complete BDes

S. Saha Student Expert 21st Jan, 2020
NIFT Examination is conducted for admission to B.Des and B.F.Tech programmes. Candidates after completing their 10+2, can appear for the NIFT Exam. Final year candidates can also apply. But there are different eligibility criteria for both the exams. The exam consists of creative ability test (CAT) for both B.Des and B.FTech while the general ability test (GAT) is only for B.Des. You can check the eligibility criteria from the link given below-

how many marks will i loose for using colours for question which they have used to draw the pic in black and white

Archita Aggarwal 26th Jan, 2020

Hi Radish

For NIFT any wrong answer you loose 0.25 marks. I don't think it's of much concern if you have used colours in a black and white question. However, it all depends upon your understanding of the question and the answer they expect. So, don't worry you will get through it.

All the best.

Hope this answer helps.
