I have scored 102.34 marks in uceed 2019. But i could not qualify as my score in msq section is 5.62 whereas the required score is 6.

Vishakha Khandelwal 3rd Apr, 2019
Hello srejan upadhyay,
Admissions for the B. Des course requires you to clear both the overall cutoff and the sectional cutoffs as well. Failure to clear any of the cutoff leads to you not being qualified for the admissions

Unfortunately you have not cleared the section score for msq and hence cannot be admitted to the colleges.
However if a college has a lower cut off for the msq section then you can consider applying to that college.

Hope this helps

In UCEED 2019, I scored 93.68 and got a rank of 517 in OBC-NCL ,what are the collages ill be able to get in?

Swagata Mishra 17th Mar, 2019

Hello,

Cutoffs, every year,  are decided by taking into account factors like the number of candidates appearing for the exam, the difficulty level of the paper, the number of seats available for the candidates and the previous years'  cut-offs to some extent.

IIT Bombay will conduct UCEED Joint Admission Counselling for the admission of students to the B.Des courses offered by IIT-B, IIT Guwahati, IIITDM and IIT Hyderabad(batch starting this year).

These previous years' cut-off ranks will give you a fair idea about your position and chances.

2018 cut-off under the open category for IIT-B closing rank was 16 closed in the first round, for IIT Guwahati it was 58 closed in the second round and for IIITDM  it was 95 closed in the second round of counselling;

OBC-NCL category for IIT-B closing rank was 13, for IIT Guwahati it was 37 in the second round and for IIITDM  it was 59 in the third round of counselling;

SC category for IIT-B closing rank was  15, for IIT Guwahati it was 30 in the third round and for IIITDM  it was 37 closed in the third round of counselling; and

ST category for IIT-B closing rank was 2, for IIT Guwahati it was 7 in the second round and for IIITDM  it was 9 in the second round of counselling.

According to 2017 cut-off trends, under the open category for IIT-B closing rank was 25, for IIT Guwahati it was 58 and for IIITDM  it was 97;

OBC-NCL category for IIT-B closing rank was 14, for IIT Guwahati it was 36 and for IIITDM  it was 58;

SC category for IIT-B closing rank was  6, for IIT Guwahati it was 16 and for IIITDM  it was 28; and

ST category for IIT-B closing rank was 3, for IIT-Guwahati it was 7 and for IIITDM  it was 10 closed in the third round of counselling.

You can apply for other good institutes as well. These are-

Central Institute of Technology(Kokrajhar)

Nirma University

Lovely Professional University(Phagwara)

VIT University

UPES Dehradun

Delhi Technological University

MIT World Peace University(Pune)

U.P. Institute of Design(Noida)

World University of design(Delhi)

Chandigarh University

Shristi Institute of Art design and technology(Bengaluru)

Chitkara University(Punjab), and,

Khyati school of Design(Ahmedabad)

These institutes are going to take candidates for their Undergraduate course based on the UCEED score but will not take part in the joint admission counselling conducted by IIT Bombay. You need to visit their official sites and apply to these institutes directly according to your UCEED score but every institute will have their own admission procedure to be followed for admission.

There are limited seats in IITs and other renowned institutes for B.Des programmes. So your chances in any institute will completely depend on the number of applicants for the institute and their ranks as there exists huge competition among the aspirants in every field.

My brother has got 81.94 marks with a SC rank of 184. Is there any chance of getting into IITs??

Sreyashi Das 1st Mar, 2019

Hello Nidhi. According to your brother's rank his chances to get an IIT is low. The cutoff for UCEED 2019 cannot be exactly predicted now but the closing ranks for SC candidates (upto last round) last year for IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati and IIIT Jabalpur are:

  • IIT Bombay- 7
  • IIT Guwahati- 30
  • IIIT Jabalpur- 37

Hope this helps. For more queries please feel free to comment down below.

Good luck!

Is there any chance of me getting a college based on UCEED 2019, when my rank is 38-(OBC) & 249-(OPEN) ??

srishti gulati 7th Mar, 2019

Hey,

With your category rank, you don’t need to worry about any college, in fact, there are chances that you get into some premier institutes too.

Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED) is an entrance examination conducted by IDC Bombay for admissions to the Bachelor of Design (B. Des.) programmes at IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIITDM Jabalpur. These are the associated institutes.

The cut-offs for 2018 has been-

IIITDM Jabalpur

Opening rank for        GEN-32       OBC-NCL-32        SC- 17        ST- 6          SC-PwD- 1

Closing rank for          GEN-75       OBC-NCL- 46        SC- 23       ST- 9           SC-PwD-1

IIT Guwahati

Opening rank for      GEN- 17       OBC-NCL-14           SC- 8        ST- 4

Closing rank for         GEN-53       OBC-NCL- 31          SC-15       ST- 7

IIT Bombay

Opening rank for      GEN- 1         OBC-NCL-4           SC- 2        ST- 1

Closing rank for        GEN- 16       OBC-NCL- 13        SC- 7        ST-2

This is cut-off for the first round, I provided you with all the details so that you get a gist of how the first counseling is going to be.

Second round cut-offs for OBC-NCL have been

IIITDM Jabalpur:   39(opening) and 54(closing)

IIT Guwahati:        16(opening) and 37(closing)

IIT Bombay:             4(opening) and 14(closing)

Third round cut-offs for OBC-NCL have been

IIITDM Jabalpur:   39(opening) and 59(closing)

So, from the above data, you can infer for which institute you will be eligible. (according to previous year cut-offs, you will most probably get IIITDM Jabalpur and maybe there is a chance for IIT Guwahati too

IIT Hyderabad is a new participant and therefore its cut off is not provided. Though the seat matrix for IIT H is Gen/OBC: 05, OBC-NCL: 03, SC: 01, ST:  01.

Apart from these, some private and state govt. institutes also give admissions based on UCEED score. The result sharing institutes for UCCED are

Nirma University, Ahmedabad

World University of Design, Delhi NCR

Chitkara University, Punjab

Srishti Institute of Art, Design, and Technology, Bengaluru

Anant National University, Ahmedabad

VIT University, Vellore

Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab

UPES, Dehradun

CIT, Kohrajhar

Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur

Delhi Technological University, Delhi

Khyati School of Design, Ahmedabad

MIT World Peace University, Pune

U.P. Institute of Design, Noida

ARCH College of Design and Business, Jaipur

But since they are either private or run by state government, you need to check their other criterions also such as state quota or merit-based etc. Most probably, you will be able to get a seat in these colleges easily because your category rank is pretty decent.

For details about the associated institutes and courses they provide, you need to refer to the UCEED 2019 Brochure, it has all the necessary details. Apart from that for result sharing institutes, you need to visit the official websites of those institutes.

I hope I was able to help you. Still, in case you have any other doubt feel free to ask.

All the best!
