Careers360: Please give a brief introduction about yourself?

Sharon Saji: My name is Sharon Saji, and I am from Kerala. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Design at the School of Creativity at Rishihood University. I am in my fourth semester, specialising in Product Design.

Careers360: Can you tell us a little bit about Domaine de Boisbuchet and the application process for your internship?

Sharon Saji: Domaine de Boisbuchet is an architectural and design research centre situated in Southwest France. The application process involves several steps: first, submitting a portfolio showcasing your work, followed by a CV highlighting your skills. Along with these, a cover letter must also be submitted. If shortlisted, candidates will then proceed to a personal interview.

Careers360: How was your experience at Rishihhod University helping prepare you for this opportunity?

Sharon Saji: The School of Creativity at Rishihood University was pivotal in preparing me for and securing this internship. My faculty supported me every step of the way, from the application process to the personal interview, and they continue to guide me through the visa process. I am truly happy and grateful to have them as my mentors.

Careers360: What advice will you give to other students aspiring to pursue international internships in the field of design?

Sharon Saji: As a design student with two more years before becoming a professional designer, I don't feel equipped to give advice. However, I can say that the faculty and their teaching methods are incredibly important. When I first joined the School of Creativity, I had no knowledge about design or how it works. Thanks to my professors, I have developed my skills significantly.

Careers360: What is a design piece you are particularly proud of, and how did you create it?

Sharon Saji: In my first year, I began designing a vest intended to help women and children who carry water over long distances, aiming to reduce the associated health issues. Witnessing the struggles in many rural areas where access to water is limited, I empathise deeply with their condition. I felt that I could use my design skills to make a difference, believing that if I couldn't help them, my role as a designer would be unfulfilled. Currently, we are testing prototypes and have received many positive feedback, which motivates us to continue developing this project.
