Understanding the paper pattern and the marking scheme is very important for the candidates who are appearing for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED). Aspirants appearing for the UCEED entrance examination need to know the answer for “Does UCEED have negative marking?”. The answer is certainly, yes. However, as per UCEED exam pattern, all the sections of UCEED have negative marking, but only certain sections are provided with it. UCEED 2025 is divided into two parts A & B. Attempting both the parts is compulsory to score marks. UCEED total marks are 300 and the exam is for a total duration of 3 hours. Check the UCEED breakdown of the marking scheme provided below.
Candidates need to know that the UCEED part A will be conducted as a Computer based test for 2 hours. The Part-A consists of 3 sections. Check the detailed breakdown of marks along with UCEED negative marking applicable to the sections in the table below.
NAT in Part - A consists of 14 questions in total with 4 marks per question.
The UCEED negative marking is not applicable for incorrect answers in the NAT section.

The marking pattern is as below.
Full marks of 4 will be given if all the correct options are chosen and if no incorrect options are marked.
Partial marks as 3 will be given if all the four options are correct and only 3 options are marked and if no incorrect options are marked.
Partial marks as 2 will be given if three or more options are correct and the candidate chooses only two which are correct and no incorrect option is chosen.
Partial Marks as 1 will be given if two or more options are correct but one correct option is selected and is correct and no incorrect option is marked.
Zero marks (0) will be given if none of the answers is selected from the options given.
Negative Marks are given as -1 in case of all other options.
The MCQ section has a total of 28 questions.
There will be 4 options given for each question, out of which only one option is the correct answer.
Each correct answer carries 3 marks.
Negative marks of 0.71 are applicable for each incorrect answer.
The UCEED Part-B will be conducted for 1 hour duration and the total marks allotted are 100. A total of 2 questions will be there in Part-B and the candidates need to attempt both the questions. The UCEED negative marking is not applicable in this section as the candidate is assessed on drawing skills.
Candidates need to be very careful while answering the Part-A questions as it has UCEED negative marking applicable to certain sections. Also, the candidates need to prepare well to gain a good score and be sure of the answers to avoid negative marking in UCEED.
