IFTK Exam is conducted by Institute of Fashion Technology Kerala for students who aspire to have a career in the fashion industry. IFTK exam 2025 will be conducted on June 22, 2025. Candidates must prepare effectively and take the IFTK entrance exam in order to be admitted to the full-time BDes program in fashion design. IFTK Exam Syllabus 2025

The IFTK exam syllabus 2025 consists of 2 sections: General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT). GAT includes topics such as quantitative ability, communication ability, english comprehension, analytical ability, general knowledge and current affairs. CAT aims to judge a candidate’s skill.

Quantitative Ability

Consists of questions on addition, multiplication, division, fractions, percentage, rate of interest, work and task, ratio and proportion and distance.

Communication Ability

Includes questions on synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, singular, plural, one word substitutes, idioms and phrases, correct spellings

English Comprehension

To comprehend the meaning of from a given passage

Analytical Ability

Test the Analytical ability and skills of the candidates.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs

To test knowledge of current affairs

IFTK Syllabus for Creative Ability Test (CAT)

Observation skills

This section includes questions to test student’s observation skills and design sensitivity.

Innovation and design ability

Includes questions to test the ability of students to come up with innovative solutions.

Color theory and Illustrations

Test student’s ability and understanding of colour theory and sketching ability.

The Communication Ability section includes questions which the majority of students find difficult. Therefore daily practice and solving as many practice questions as possible is advised to prepare for the section.

  1. Innovation and design ability

This includes thinking outside the box and generating new innovative concepts that are different and more effective than already existing ideas. Students should practice and master the skill for coming up with creative ideas and turning them into feasible designs.

  1. General Knowledge

Start with reading and watching daily news and news articles. It is also important for students to be thorough with the important topics such as names of important people, dates and logos, paintings and cultures from different brands and art movements.

  1. Color Theory and Illustration

Students are advised to be thorough with basics of the color theory and practice as many questions from the topic for better understanding. Aspiring candidates need to practice as many sketching questions as possible to develop the ability for clear and effective sketches in the IFTK exam.
