IIT Bombay, IDC, is conducting the Common Entrance Exam for Design 2026 for candidates seeking admission to postgraduate design programmes at IITs and other participating universities across India. Candidates appearing for the exam will have to follow the CEED exam guidelines to ensure a smooth examination process on January 18, 2026, between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM. The CEED exam 2026 has the guidelines specified on the CEED exam admit card as well as the Information Brochure. The CEED admit card 2026 was released on the official website - ceed.iitb.ac.in on January 2, 2026. Candidates who wish to rectify discrepancies can do so until January 8, 2026, till 5:00 PM. Candidates need to follow the CEED exam day guidelines to ensure that their exam process is conducted smoothly.

Candidates can refer to the CEED exam guidelines as mentioned on the CEED admit card 2026. The guidelines will be mentioned in the section under Important Instructions. The guidelines have been specified in the pointers below.
Admit Card: Candidates need to bring a printout of their Admit Card to the examination centre along with a Ball Pen (blue/black).
Identity Verification: The CEED admit card 2026 must be presented for verification along with one of the following original photo IDs:
Hall ticket/Admit Card of the school Board Exam with the photo of the candidate
College/School identity card
Certificate from the School/College Principal (As given in Appendix 1 of CEED information brochure)
Any Government-issued Photo ID like DL/Aadhar/PAN/Voter-ID/Passport

Reporting & Registration Time: Candidates need to report to their respective examination centre at 07:00 Hours (IST) for identity verification and biometric identity capture.
Hall Entry/Exit: The CEED Entrance Exam 2026 will commence at 09:00 Hours (IST). Candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination centre after the examination has started. Candidates cannot leave the examination hall before the end of the examination, except for medical emergencies.
Writing Material: Blank sheets/Scribble pads will be provided for rough work
Drawing Materials: Candidates must bring their own pencils in a transparent packet. Colouring materials or sketch pens are not needed in the examination. Candidates can also carry a writing board of A4 size. Candidates need to ensure that they carry the necessary equipment because exchanging or borrowing these materials will not be permitted inside the examination hall.
Items not allowed: Electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, calculators, digital watches, used sheets, etc. are not allowed in the examination hall.
Unfair Means: Violation of the rules and regulations or using any unfair means at any stage of the examination will lead to the disqualification of the candidate.
Change of Examination City/Centre will not be allowed. Candidates need to appear at the prescribed exam centre in the admit card to appear for the examination.
Compensatory time for PwD Candidate: Compensatory time allotted to PwD candidates for Part-A & Part-B will not be interchanged/adjusted.
Candidates can follow the Important Instructions section mentioned in Admit Card to ensure that they do not miss out on the CEED 2026 guidelines for exam day.
Candidates can also refer to the guidelines mentioned in the Information Brochure to know what is to be done on exam day. The CEED exam day guidelines will be mostly similar to those mentioned in the admit card. However, in the event of any discrepancy, candidates need to follow the instructions mentioned on the admit card. Some of the details specific to the Information brochure are specified below.
Biometrics: A printout of the Admit Card is required to record biometric information (thumb impression and photograph) before the exam. Thumb impressions may be verified again at admission so candidates are recommended to ensure fingerprints are captured clearly.
Seating: The seating arrangement will be displayed at the examination centre.
Date Changes: Any request for a change in the examination date and time will not be considered.
Future Instructions: Further instructions, if any, shall be published on the website before the exam.
There is a discrepancy in the details about the drawing materials mentioned in the CEED 2026 Information brochure, where candidates are asked to bring their own drawing materials (pens, pencils, sketch pens, and colours). This contrasts with regulations on the CEED admit card. Candidates need to follow the most recent instructions provided by the authorities, be it on the admit card or the CEED official website.
