The NIFT B.FTech Entrance exam consists of only a GAT entrance exam which tests multiple scholastic abilities, especially your strong understanding of foundation in Science and Mathematics. Unlike the NIFT B.Des Entrance exams, this test consists of only a GAT test and requires no sketching or 3D modelling abilities as there is no CAT or Situation Test.
How to focus on important topics for NIFT BFTech 2025?
Here is a section-wise self-study guide on how to prepare for NIFT B.FTech 2025:Even with a year at hand, you must strengthen and memorize your basics in 2-3 months. Spend about 2-3 hours a day for about 2 months for subject enrichment rather than trying to cram both memorization and application in the last few months. The total time distribution for this paper is 180 minutes.
Since BFTech GAT comprises 5 sections as already mentioned above the detailed NIFT BFTech GAT preparation tips are as follows.
This section has the most number of questions in the entire paper, and you must be able to solve it in 40 minutes.
Since it is a very fact-based questionnaire, you must pick up the pace while solving these questions.
You must have a strong understanding of English vocabulary, Grammar syntax awareness, Synonyms and Antonyms, etc.
While solving Unseen passages, make sure to read all the questions carefully and then give the passage a quick read. You will find the answers quicker that way.
Practice reading newspaper articles, books, subtitles, magazines, etc, for good exposure to new vocabulary.
You can make an archive or a set of cards with meanings to help you remember them more easily. Try using the new words in at least 3 different sentences to help you remember the word better.
This section strongly tests your Science and Mathematical abilities.
You have to allot yourself a maximum of 40 minutes to complete this section.
Start by solving the 10th Mathematics NCERT textbook to strengthen your basics and then move on to more complex books and question banks.
Arithmetic is a very important part. Questions around Profit and Loss, Speed, time and distance, Ratio proportion, percentage, etc, must be your strong points for you to solve these sections easily.
Formula cheat sheets are very helpful during initial preparation. You can either formulate it on your own, which will help better, as writing aids memorization, or use online resources.
When you begin to solve mock tests, start solving with the Quantitative Aptitude first always, and start with questions about the use of complex formulas, or topics that occur with the most number of questions.
Start to solve this section right after QA.
You can take a maximum of 30 minutes to complete this section.
Familiarize yourself with the type of questions asked, Number series, Alphabet series, blood relations, etc, must be your stronghold.
Understand and break down all technical diagram-related questions, especially Hand of the clock, missing numbers and letters, Direction sense questions, etc.
Most people are overconfident and ruin this section in the final exam
Theory will not take much time for this section. So, start with solving 20-30 questions a day, and once you get a hang of it in a few weeks, start timing yourself and take about 40 minutes to solve 25 questions. As the practice goes on, reduce the amount of time you take to solve the same number of questions.
This forms one of the most unpredictable and toughest parts of the examination.
There are around 5 Caselet questions asked every year, so you can assign only about 50 minutes to solve this section.
You must have a thorough knowledge of the basics of business terminologies, Textile management and making, Retail management, supply chain management, fashion forecasting and trend analysis, 4P’s of marketing, USP, Product diversification, Turnover, Margin, Value for money, Market research, SWOT analysis, Umbrella organization etc.
There are a few techniques to solve these questions, get familiar with concepts like
Major and Minor Factors, Major and Minor Objectives, Major Assumption, etc.
Once you begin to understand the solving methodology, try to complete each case study in under 15 minutes and slowly reduce it to 10 minutes per case.
Exposure to model question papers will help you the best.
As this forms one of the most subjective sections of the paper, you can allot 20 minutes to solve these questions.
Keep up with Fashion business, Post and present trends, Indian ministry schemes, etc, as at least 5-6 questions appear from this segment every year.
You can use 30 minutes for exposure to these topics every day and try memorizing them by making quiz cards for yourself.
It is important to keep an archive of whatever you study, and it would be most helpful to do this as quiz cards, where you can categorize questions based on topics.
Start early and dedicate at least an hour every day in the mornings to this.
Here are some reliable sources recommended as per the NIFT BFTech entrance exam syllabus. The recommendations are as follows.

Analytical and logical ability | Analytical Reasoning by MK Pandey |
