10 Do’s and Don’ts For NIFT 2024: The National Institute of Fashion Technology conduct the NIFT entrance test for admissions to B.Des, B.FTech, MDes, MFM, and MFTech programmes. NIFT entrance exam 2024 is scheduled for February 5 for both B.Des and M.Des programmes. Around 35000 to 40000 aspirants appear every year in the NIFT entrance test to get admission in their choice of design programmes. 10 Do’s and Don’ts For NIFT 2024

The agenda of the 10 Do’s and Don’ts for NIFT 2024 is to ensure the candidates do not face any difficulty on the day of the exam. So it is mandatory for the students to remember the 10 Do’s and don’ts for NIFT 2024. At the same time, students are advised to go through the eligibility criteria of NIFT as well as important topics for preparation to tackle the exam easily.

As per the NIFT exam pattern, the entrance test will be conducted in online mode. The NIFT entrance exam is a three-tier format exam that consists of a Creative Ability Test (CAT), a General Ability Test (GAT), and a Situation Test. However, students applying for BFTech course admissions candidates need to appear for the GAT exam only.

Do’s For NIFT 2024

Following are the 10 Do’s for the NIFT entrance exam 2024.

  1. NIFT Brochure - Aspirants must always go through the Brochure of NIFT 2024 which will be available on the official website of NIFT to comprehend the detailed exam pattern and syllabus for both courses.

  2. Understand the basics of the NIFT syllabus - Students must understand elements and basic principles of design, like colour theory, typography, animation techniques, etc.

  3. Solve the NIFT sample papers - Students must solve the previous year's questions and participate in the mock tests of the NIFT entrance test. Solving the sample paper of NIFT will help the students to understand the format of the questions asked in the entrance test and the difficulty level of it.

  4. Enhance your general awareness - Aspirants must work on their vocabulary, general knowledge, and current affairs by reading newspapers, magazines, and books on general knowledge like Manorama, researching the internet, or watching YouTube videos related to these topics.

  5. Complete the syllabus - Students are advised to complete the NIFT entrance exam syllabus. Try to cover all the topics that include in the NIFT syllabus.

  6. NIFT admit card and identity proof - Test-takers must carry the printout copy of the NIFT 2024 admit card along with a valid identity card to the exam centres. None of the candidates will be allowed to enter the NIFT exam centres with the admit card.

  7. Prioritize sections - Plan your paper. First try to attempt the simple ones like logo designing, T-Shirt designing, etc., and then go for the complicated ones like scene drawing, etc.

  8. Quality stationery - Candidates must try to use quality colour pencils that contain at least 24 shades.

  9. Draw in one go - Test-takers must try to use fewer erasers while sketching. This will help in representing your lines in a more distinct, bold, and confident way.

  10. Reporting Time - Make sure to reach the centre at the reporting time mentioned in the admit card. After ‘Gate closure’, the candidate will not be permitted under any circumstances.

Don’ts For NIFT 2024

Following are the 10 don’ts for NIFT 2024.

  1. Do not take stress - Students should not strain themselves till the last minute. For a few days before the exam, leave all your books aside. Have a good time and relax.

  2. While studying do not set limits - Do not limit yourself to the topics, cover all the important topics for NIFT.

  3. Do not start preparing late for the exam - Students must not underestimate the amount of practice and time required for the NIFT entrance exam. The best way to crack the NIFT entrance exam with flying colors is by starting to prepare for the entrance test as soon as possible.

  4. Do not try to represent your creativity through texts - While representing your creativity, remember you must not focus more on texts but on visuals.

  5. No electronic gadgets - Test-takers must not carry any electronic gadgets such as mobile phone phones, smartwatches, wallets, purses, notes, books, or any fluid/marker to the NIFT 2024 exam centres.

  6. Do not presume the answers - As there is a 0.25 negative marking for every wrong/ incorrectly marked answer for GAT, candidates must not mark the answers if they are not sure of it.

  7. Do not ignore the instructions - Test-takers must follow the exam guideline. They must not carry the question booklet or any part thereof outside the test before completion of the test.

  8. Do not forget to make your own arrangements - No traveling or accommodation/ food expenses will be paid to the candidates for attending the test. Hence they have to arrange for their own.

  9. Do not mark multiple answers - Test-takers must not darken more than one oval in the OMR sheet as such an answer will not be considered for evaluation and may cost you your marks because of the negative marking.

  10. Do not mark the answer sheet - Students must not tear, bend or mutilate the NIFT 2024 answer sheet.

The nationwide Institute of Fashion Technology offers a nationwide entrance exam called NIFT for admission to its fashion design programmes.

Every course has specific requirements that must be met in order to apply. For NIFT, there is no minimum age requirement, however it is evident that passing the 10+2 exam is a requirement in order to be admitted to any undergraduate programme in fashion design.


You cannot be admitted because you are in class eleven. However, you can apply to NIFT for experience and practice, and if your application is accepted, you can take the entrance exam. If you pass, however, be aware that you will not be able to retain your results for admission.

Yes! If you want to pursue your under graduation from nift after 12th or even if you are appearing for12th exam then you are eligible to apply for the exam. There are several courses offered by nift which includes undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.


Age (Undergraduate degree programmes) -

  • General - the maximum age should be less than 24 years as on 1st august in the year of examination
  • Reserved category - 5 years relaxation

NIFT 2023 ELIGIBILITY - B.DES admission

1. Aspiring students must have completed a 10+2 board exam from any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education/State Board New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi or,

2. Any Board/Public School/University Examination conducted in India or abroad which is equivalent to the 10+2 system and is accorded by the Association of Indian Universities or,

3. If candidates complete the General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Sri Lanka/ Cambridge/) at the Advanced (A) level/International Baccalaureate (IB) then, they are eligible to apply or,

4. Students will also be eligible if they have passed the 10+2 examination conducted by the National Open School with at least five subjects or,

5. Diploma of 3 or 4 years which is recognized by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education.

Age limit - Candidates must be of 23 years of age as of August 1, 2022. However, candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Person With Disability (PHP) get a relaxation of 5 years

Eligibility for B.F.Tech admission

1. Students must pass the Class 12 exam in the 10+2 pattern of examination with Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from any recognized Central/ State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi or,

2. Any Public School/Board/University Exam in India or in foreign countries which is equivalent to a 10+2 system with Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics as a mandatory subjects. It must be recognized by the Association of Indian Universities or,

3. General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination(London/ Cambridge/ Sri Lanka) at the advanced (A) level with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/International Baccalaureate (IB) or,

4. Diploma of 3 or 4 years in any programme of engineering which is recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education or,

5. A passing grade in the Higher Secondary Education Examination held by the National Open School with at least five subjects - Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics

Age limit is same as B.des

For BVoc courses in interior design, separate entrance exams are conducted by the concerned colleges. By giving NIFT you can only get admission in BDes and MDes courses in NIFTs and some other participating institutes.

In 2022 NIFT Entrance Examination was conducted in 32 cities. The candidates have to select the preference of the examination cities while filling the application form. Based on the availability, preferences of the examination cities you will be allotted an examination center. You have to appear for NIFT Entrance Examination in the allotted examination center as per the given schedule. You can select any city where examination is conducted while filling your preferences, make sure that you select the cities such that you can commute on the day of examination easily. Next year the list of examination cities may increase or decrease, the cities may vary.
