- Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent from a statutory university in the streams of Fine Arts, Design, Science, Social Sciences, Humanities, Engineering, Technology, Applied Arts and Performing Arts.
- Professional diplomas from nationally recognized institutions like NIFT, NID, CEPT and Srishti School of Art and Design.
- Candidates must have 55% marks or equivalent in the last qualifying degree/exam.
- There is no age limit for candidates to apply for the MDes programme.

DAIICT MDes 2026 Exam Pattern - DAT (Design Aptitude Test)
The DAIICT MDes DAT 2026 consists of 3 parts with 20 marks for each part. The candidates have to score 40% in the exam to move to the next round which is an online interview. The DAIICT DAT exam pattern is separate for the two M.Des programmes. The details are given below.

Electronics & VLSI was a bit less competitive, closing around rank 290.
If you belong to OBC or EWS, the cutoff ranks tend to be slightly higher, with some streams closing around rank 350 to 680. Your chances of admission depend on your JEE Main rank and the specific stream you choose.
So, if your JEE Main rank is around 80 to 150, you could aim for top streams like Mathematics & Computing or core ICT. Ranks between 150 and 300 may still get you into Electronics & VLSI.

While admission to BTech programs is mostly determined by your JEE Main rank, your 12th grade science grades are taken into account for eligibility at DAIICT. You must have earned a 12th grade diploma in mathematics, physics, and one of the following subjects: biology, computer science, chemistry, or biotechnology. For the All India category, there is no minimum percentage needed, although passing the 12th grade is a requirement for admission.
