Students can have the choice to pursue and integrate BDes and MDes in the third year of their B.Des program. The duration of the B.Des course is 4 years, and the integrated course is 5 years. The Department of Design at IIT Guwahati offers a four-year B.Des programme through UCEED. The course is designed to teach the students design from the very basic level. As the course proceeds the students delve into multiple spectrums of design. From graphic design, product design to furniture design the students learn multiple types of designing. The students are also made to do projects in the final year of their course to have hands-on experience in designing. IIT Guwahati has a total seats of 56. The IIT Guwahati B.Des fee is around Rs 8.55 lakhs.

IIT Hyderabad has a full-time 4-year BDes course which takes the students from the general foundation course in design to introductory level and then to detailed domains at the final stage. The students are free to develop their design thinking, problem solving skills through the course. Students can then choose from the area of their interest from the core domains of product design, visual communication and interaction design. There are 26 seats in IIT Hyderabad. IIITDM Jabalpur has a B.Des course which aims to provide a holistic perspective of design to the students. The curriculum is designed to develop designers with strong fundamentals about designing and who can navigate through the complex area of designing. Product design, communication design, space design, interaction or service design are some of the most common areas offered. In a total of 8 semesters the students start from basics of design and arts and learn the most conflicting modern design courses of interface design, industrial design, service design, transportation design etc. There are a total of 66 seats in the institution. The IIITDM Jabalpur B.Des fee is Rs 6.45 lakhs.

UCEED is a competitive exam for design aspirants, testing design aptitude, logical thinking, creativity, and visualisation skills. To improve your score out of 300, start by understanding the exam pattern—Part A (objective) and Part B (subjective). For Part A, practice reasoning, numerical aptitude, and environmental & social awareness questions. For Part B, focus on drawing, sketching, and presenting your ideas clearly. Solve past year UCEED papers and join online mock test series. Spend at least 2–3 hours daily practising creative problem-solving and sketching. Also, work on time management because the exam requires quick thinking.

For NID DAT 2026, your eligibility is established based on your born date as you are born on or after July 1st 2005. For UCEED 2026, your eligibility is dependent on your born date by category. You are eligible if you are OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL category and born on or after October 1, 2001. If you are SC/ST/PwD category you must be born on or after October 1, 1996 in order to be eligible. Based on your born date of December 20th, 2006 for both NID DAT 2026 and UCEED 2026; you will be eligible.
