The Pearl Academy entrance exam is dedicated to testing a student’s multiple scholastic abilities. It is an objective assessment and will help gauge a student’s design abilities and exposure to the design world. Here are a few important topics for the Pearl Academy entrance exam for each section. These topics are retrieved as per the Pearl Academy entrance exam syllabus 2026.
English Language: Antonyms, Idioms and Phrases, Sentence Correction, Fill In The Blanks, Reading Comprehension,
Logical Reasoning: Series, Patterns, Analogies, Classifications, Coding-Decoding, Blood, Relations, Directions and Test, Syllogisms
Quantitative Ability: Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Mensuration, Time And Work, Time And Distance, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages
General Knowledge: Awards and Honors, Indian Geography, General Awareness, Physics, Chemistry, Indian Polity
The General Proficiency Test is an easy-moderate entrance test that tests a student on various subjects. Here are some section-wise preparation tips:
This section tests a student’s basic communication and language abilities.
Students can practice questions from Unsees passages, grammar, syntax, etc.
It is advisable to start with sections that require memorization like antonyms and synonyms, and hence it is also useful to learn vocabulary the same way.
Quiz cards are an excellent way to learn fresh words and also practice syntax
Improve reading ability by reading newspapers, books, magazines, etc. This will also help in developing general knowledge.
Remember that it is important to develop reading speed as it will help in the comprehension of passages.
A long paragraph can often be quite intimidating to read and requires a lot of attention. It is thus important to note such keywords and find the correct answers for the passage-related questions. Since noting important points may or may not help because the answers depend heavily on the type of questions asked, the best way to solve these passages is to read all the questions once before you start to read the passage. This will help to get answers quicker and more efficiently although it is important to pay extreme attention. Sometimes students make mistakes as silly as mistaking antonyms with synonyms!
Vocabulary like much of what needs memorization develops over periods of practice and cycles. It is quite easily forgettable and confusable, and hence it is important to come up with a suitable strategy to learn more words. One best way to do this is to set a goal to learn a certain number of words in a day while also practising it. This is exactly how we try to remember people’s names as well. We can take a new word, for example, the word “tweak” means to make adjustments and small changes. A good way to learn this word and truly remember it would be to try and use it in at least three sentences that day.
Students can practice old questions from 10th NCERT Math and Science textbooks as this will help them.
It is important to start with topics that take up memorization, and hence in general all concepts must be covered before solving.
Formulae are highly important as they help in solving MCQs faster. It is advisable to make a formula sheet first and then begin preparation.
Some topics are purely fact-based and hence quizzes and self-assessment tests are the best to know where one stands.
Remember that the questions are moderately difficult and hence practice questions adequately.
Since it is an MCQ test, it would be helpful to learn some tricks to attempt these questions, while also
Do not ignore simple topics like HCF, LCM, etc, and simple phenomena in nature like photosynthesis.

Understand that among a variety of subtopics under a single topic, only a few are the most important. Do not spend much time on understanding and trying to solve with multiple steps as this is an objective type exam. Understand the most logical way to solve these questions. An easy way to remember would be to try and visualize these problems in real life. Take analogies to solve. A very simple example would be to recall how we learned addition while applying it in real life. We would visualize it as a pie or a pizza and add or subtract the pieces mentally to learn this concept in the flesh.

Students can practice topics like sequences, series, syllogism, seating arrangement, etc.
Logical reasoning questions typically involve tricks in solving and it would be beneficial to refer to some guides and books to understand and learn the same.
Refer to topics like optical illusions, mirror images, etc, and Nonverbal reasoning.
Since this is an observation-based topic it is important to remain focused on the question’s requirement and not distract and confuse with too many formulae as it is logic-based.
Solve a variety of brain teasers, puzzles, etc, and also understand the few basic principles that are used in coding, etc.
Since this happens to be quite a practical topic, it is important to play by logic. Students can start by practicing certain conditional statements and applying them. They can also build logic-based games to help improve analytical ability. It is important to note patterns and brain teasers in daily life. Attempting simple brain teasers, analytical ability tests, etc, can be quite beneficial.
Expose yourself to news, magazines, etc. This is the best and only way to improve general knowledge.
Include books like the Manorama Yearbook to help with current affairs.
Get into the basics of all types of design, fashion, and graphics, and understand basic terminologies like pattern making, etc.
Familiarize yourself with the basic handicrafts and art forms in the world.
Folk music, folk dance, regional geography, culture, etc are important aspects.
Trying to remember something with no context to it can be quite difficult, and hence subjects are often studied with varying depths to help us register it better. We allow ourselves to learn, contemplate, and apply what we are taught. The best way to come around the concept of a “fact” is to acknowledge a little bit of the history of what we learn. For example, if we are asked questions about how many major river systems there are in India, instead of remembering just the number, it would be beneficial to know little about each system. This presents itself as the best hook to remember a fact and works well for topics related to history, geography, current affairs, etc.
Data interpretation in terms of Sets, sequences, and relations
Graphical representation, pie charts, bar graphs, etc
Focus on keeping data concise and learn simple statistics
