Strategy for NIFT Preparation
Nearly 22,000 students appear every year for the entrance test for undergraduate and postgraduate admissions. Of these, around 7,700 candidates could crack the entrance test. 4,517 seats will be allotted to the students on the basis of merit. Because of this cutthroat competition, to distinguish yourself from the rest of the test-takers, you need to follow an efficient preparation strategy.
Knowing a few useful tips, in addition to your commitment and sincerity, will help you to a significant degree crack on the entrance test. Prof. Sanjay Shrivastava, Director, NIFT Patna, who is also NIFT Bhubaneswar's additional in-charge, expresses, "You must not only plan properly but also master the art of expressing your knowledge in the best possible way." He also says that three additional instruments to concentrate on are time management, good health, and stress reduction.
What does CAT for Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) judge?
The creative Ability Test will measure the candidate’s creative skill, observation power in the creation of ideas, ability to design, and extraordinary use of colours and illustration abilities.
Sreenanda Palit, Associate Professor & Centre Coordinator (Fashion Communication), NIFT Kolkata, advises, "You should be 100 % original in order to crack the test. In order to secure a good ranking, you must think out of the box. Work to get yourself as imaginative as possible."
What will GAT judge?
Your interpretation of English, quantitative ability, listening ability, logical ability, general knowledge, and current affairs will be judged in GAT.
Situation Test: This measure tests the material handling and creative skill of a specific set of materials in a given situation.
GAT for Bachelor of Technology (B.F.Tech): This is to test your quantitative ability; listening abilities and interpretation of English; analytical and logical skills, general knowledge, and current affairs, and to examine you by case study as well.
NIFT Preparation Tips
How to crack NIFT 2023 in 6 months?
Enhance Speed: If you don't have speed, possessing excellent drawing skills and imagination is pointless. The entire aim is to be able to show, your creativity and individuality in a short time.
Upgrade Observation & Visualization Skills: The most crucial purpose of the test is to gauge your creative and imaginative skills. In addition, the questions are framed in order to judge your general awareness, observation skills, and visualization as well. There's a misconception among students that to score well, only good sketching is necessary. This is not accurate, since developing the above skills is equally essential.
Polish Your General knowledge: You don't need to cram every single GK book. Knowledge of public affairs is more important. Make reading newspapers a habit for this reason. In addition, you should also know about the renowned designers who have contributed to this difficult area. Spend some time reading books/magazines on fashion & design. Make sure no region gets left out.
Solve NIFT Sample Papers: As much as you can, practice NIFT sample papers. This will provide you with an understanding of the sorts of questions that will be asked. You can understand the average level of complexity of the entrance test as well. In addition, to a great degree, this will help increase your speed.
Look to try to work on the weakest segments. Prof. Sanjay advises scheduling daily sessions to nurture your skills. Solving previous years' papers would also let you know the order in which numerous parts should be addressed.
Be innovative: It is a prerequisite for clearing this test to be unconventional in using your creativity and fresh thoughts to create something. To build something different, you should have the opportunity to come up with creative ideas. Your peculiar way of thought will be judged by CAT and GAT. Equally critical is taking care of your health and well-being during the planning process and test time. It requires a high degree of focus and endurance to write those entrance exams and it is only possible if you are in good physical and mental health.
Go through NIFT Exam Pattern 2023: The exam pattern of NIFT will help the students to know the parameters of the entrance test. Through NIFT 2023 exam pattern, students will be able to know the question format, marking scheme, maximum mark allotted, mode of the exam, and many more
Don't Waste Time: You have to make sure that you don't waste time in erasing and redrawing for a short duration as most candidates do. It is advised that you sketch with a light hand, first concentrating mainly on illustrating only, to ensure this. You should start with the detailed work and finalize it after being pleased with the rough outline and measurements.
Prof. Shrivastava, advising candidates on enhancing their drawing abilities, says, "Watch YouTube sketching tutorials, concept creations, and paint apps to improvise on your current skills." Know, the secret to performance is the uniqueness of the presentations.
