NIFT 2019 - National Institute of Fashion Technology conducts NIFT entrance exam for admissions to a total of 2,370 seats across Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech) programmes. NIFT 2019, a pen and paper-based admission test, will be held in the third week January for admissions across 16 campuses of the institute located in Chennai, New Delhi, Gandhinagar, Bhopal, Jodhpur, Kangra, Bhubaneshwar, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kannur, Raebareli, Shillong, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Patna and Srinagar. Candidates seeking admissions to NIFT B.Des programme have to appear for Creative Ability Test (CAT) as well as General Ability Test (GAT). Shortlisted candidates will be required to take the NIFT Situation Test in April-May. For admission to B.F.Tech programme, candidates have to take GAT only. NIFT 2018 Exam Analysis
The entrance exam evaluated candidates’ intuitive ability, observation power in the development of a concept and design ability. Along with that, creative and innovative use of illustration and color skills were tested.
The important highlights of NIFT 2018 entrance exam are as follows:
There were three questions in CAT that had to be completed in three hours. One was to make a boat with a piece of paper, just like origami. Another question was on how to change a bulb.
Test-takers had to draw a bag for wedding or picnic, and to describe it properly in 5-6 lines. One question was on drawing a geometrical figure that describes their personality.
GAT was very easy and the questions were on the expected lines. English section was a bit confusing though. Questions regarding education, technology, etc. were asked in case study section. Reasoning was of basic level.
Mathematics was okay, GK a bit tough, English good, and case study a little tricky. Analytical questions were also easy.
Most of the candidates found the paper to be of easy to moderate difficulty level. They opined that they didn't feel any need to enroll themselves for coaching classes during the preparation phase.
