UCEED Exam Date:18 Jan' 26 - 18 Jan' 26
In this article we bring you the most asked questions in UCEED exams from the analysis of the UCEED previous year question papers where the aim is to identify the common patterns and recurring question types for meaningful insights to buckle up your preparation plan for the UCEED 2026 exam. This set of most asked questions in the UCEED will help you understand the question types for maximising your performance and crack the exam.
This analysis is based on the detailed review of the UCEED previous year question papers from the UCEED official sources. The following UCEED previous papers have been considered for accounting the questions in this sample paper:
Instructions: The questions of Part-A contain a total of 15 questions. For each question, the answer is a real number that needs to be answered.
Ques 1: If the diameter of pulley E is twice that of pulley D. If the pulley A rotates eight times clockwise, how many times will pulley E rotate and in which direction?
20 times
32 times
12 times
16 times
Solution: Option (D) 16 times, anticlockwise
Ques 2: How many lines are there in the image given below?
10 Line
12 Lines
14 Lines
18 Lines
Solution: Option (D) 18 Lines
First, ignore the overlapping or intersecting points—just focus on the distinct straight lines.
If you scan from left to right, you can mark each unique line once.
After careful counting, the total comes out to 18 distinct lines.

Ques 3: How many Triangles are there in the given figure as shown below?
10
09
12
15
Solution: Option (D) 15
Upward-pointing triangles
1 very large outer ▲ (top apex).
1 inner small ▲ (inside, sharing the same sides).
2 medium ▲ with base on the central horizontal line (left half and right half).
2 medium ▲ formed between the slanted upper line and the sides of the big ▲ (left and right).
2 small ▲ near the left and right tips where the downward triangle cuts the big ▲.
Downward-pointing triangles
1 very large outer ▼ (bottom apex).
2 medium ▼ with base on the central horizontal line (left and right).
2 small ▼ just above the central line where the upper slanted line intersects.
2 small ▼ near the outer left/right where the big ▲ slices the big ▼.
Adding them up:
1+1+2+2+2+1+2+2+2 = 15
So, the figure contains 15 distinct triangles.
Ques 4: Based on the design and the working principle, which of the devices will take the least effort for cutting a wire.
4
3
2
1
Solution: Option (A) 4
Cutting effort depends on the mechanical advantage (ratio of the length of the handles to the length of the jaws).
The longer the handle compared to the short jaws, the less force is needed.
Device 4 has long handles and short cutting edges, which gives it maximum leverage.
Therefore, it requires the least effort to cut a wire.
Ques 5: Of the given options in the figure which of the following don’t match the parent figure as shown below?
3
2
1
4
Solution: Option (D) 4
Options 1, 2, and 3 are cropped portions of the original parent image (face silhouette).
Option 4 is different — it has a vertical shaded texture that does not exist anywhere in the parent figure.
So, the piece that does not match is 4.
Ques 6: The word given below uses a particular font. Which of the options belongs to the same font?
Solution: Option (B)
Look closely at the parent word: it uses a stylized, calligraphic Bengali font with sharp angular edges and distinct ornamental curves.
Among the options A, B, C, and D:
A has a rounded style (does not match).
B has the same sharp angular cut and ornamental stroke, consistent with the parent font.
C and D are more simplified/rounded and lack the sharp calligraphic features.
Ques 7: Which black shape from the options will match the white shape in the figure, using the simple rotation.
Solution: Option (3)
Observe the white figure inside the box: it has
A triangle at the top-right,
A small diamond on the top-left,
A square on the bottom-left,
A curved hook-like shape at the bottom-right.
If you rotate this shape, the arrangement matches exactly with Option 3. The other options have misplaced orientations (triangle or curve in wrong positions).
Ques 8: Which of the following spring types is most appropriate for ‘Pull back Toys’ as shown in the picture.
Solution: Option (A) Spiral Ring
Pull-back toys work on the principle of storing energy when the toy is pulled backward and then releasing it to move forward.
This mechanism requires a spiral spring (also called a clock spring or flat coil spring), which can wind up when the toy is pulled back and then unwind to release the stored energy.
Options B (torsion spring), C (leaf spring), and D (helical compression spring) are used in other applications (like doors, vehicles, and suspensions), not in pull-back toy mechanisms.
Ques 9: Identify the logo of the government Institute?
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi
Indian Institute of Technology Madras
Indian Institute of Management
National Institute of Design
Solution: Option (B)
The logo features a lamp with a lotus in the flame, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment. This is the official emblem of IIT Madras, a premier government institute.
Condition : Five plays a,b,c,d and e are to be staged from Monday to Friday of a week. On each day, only one play will be staged. d or e should not be either the first or last to be staged. e should be immediately followed by c. b should be staged immediately after d. One play is staged between a and b.
Ques 10: Which is the first play to be staged?
(a)
(b)
(c)
Can’t be determined
Solution: Option (A)
d and e cannot be first or last.
b must be immediately after d - b cannot be first.
c must be immediately after e - c cannot be first.
So the only candidate for Day-1 is a.
Ques 11: Which of the following is the correct sequence of staging all the plays?
A-D-B-E-C
A-E-C-D-B
B-D-A-E-C
D-B-E-C-A
Solution: Option (A)
From Q10, Day-1 = a.
“One play is staged between a and b” ⇒ with aaa on Day-1, bbb must be Day-3.
“b is immediately after d” ⇒ d is Day-2.
Remaining days are 4 & 5, and “e is immediately followed by c” with e not last ⇒ e Day-4, c Day-5.
Thus, the only arrangement satisfying all rules is A–D–B–E–C.
Ques 12: Of the given alternatives, which of the given options is the correct Water-Image of the figure (x)?
Solution: Option (C)
A water image is a reflection in the horizontal axis (as if placed above water).
In figure (x), the black half is on the top-right, and the striped half is on the bottom-left.
After horizontal reflection:
The black region shifts to the bottom-right.
The striped region shifts to the top-left.
Among the given choices, only Option C shows this correct water reflection.
Ques 13: For the given figure, what is the ratio of black to white space in the given figure, where the radius of the bigger circle is twice the radius of the smaller circles.
3:4
1:2
4:2
2:1
Solution: Option (D)
Ques 14: Which of the given tyre patterns are most suitable for offroading vehicles with mixed conditions of up and down hill driving conditions?
Solution: Option (C)
Off-road tyres need deep, wide, and irregular tread blocks to provide strong grip on uneven, muddy, and hilly terrain.
Option C shows a large blocky tread pattern with wide gaps, which is ideal for traction in mixed conditions (uphill, downhill, mud, gravel, etc.).
Options A, B, and D are more suited for highways or regular road use (they focus on water drainage, noise reduction, and smoother contact).
Ques 15: Identify which of the options given below, can be folded to make the 3D object show in the box below.
Solution: Option (B)
Only net B places the “top cube” faces so they fold onto the middle of the base strip and lock the two end cubes at right angles—matching the stepped 4-cube solid. Nets A, C, D either double-cover a face or leave a gap when folded, so they can’t make the shown 3D object.
