The UCEED 2024 question paper’s Part A consisted of three sections that is NAT, MSQ and MCQs. The UCEED question paper 2024 with answers and detailed analysis is given below.
Difficulty Level | The difficulty level was Moderate to Difficult |
Ideal Time | 30-45 minutes |
Good Attempt | 14 questions (No Negative Marking) |
Focus Areas | Patterns rearrangement, Surface counting, Shape counting, Mechanics and Geometry, Mensuration |
Approach: Question 4 is based on the concept of Surface modeling and image manipulation. Students might get confused here and loose track of counting. It is hence important to know how to be able to visualize in three dimensions the best. The NAT section hosts logical questions like these with no negative marking and are often quite interesting.
Solution:
Total= 10+10+20+30+2
=72
Hence, this figure has 72 surfaces.
Q.09 Shown below is an image of a circle and six equilateral triangles. The circumference of the circle is 18.85 cm. What is the area of ONE equilateral triangle in cm2? Assume √3 = 1.732 and π = 3.14.
Approach: Question 9 deals with understanding of basics of geometry and mensuration. One must be thorough with all types of mathematical formulae needed for 2D and 3D mensuration.
Solution:
We know the circumference of the circle =2r
ATQ,
2r=18.85
23.14r=18.85
r=18.8523.14
r=3.2 cm
r3.2 cm
Now,
Apply Pythagoras theorem.
(a2)2+32=a2
a24+9=a2
a2+364=a2
a2+36=4a2
3a2=36
a2=12
Area of equilateral triangle=3a24
=3412=33=5.15cm2
Difficulty Level | The difficulty level was Moderate |
Ideal Time | 30-40 minutes |
Good Attempt | 15 Questions (Negative Marking) |
Focus Areas | Clocks, Patterns, Simple gears, Statements, Visual Observation |
Approach: In question 18 of the UCEED 2024 paper, the topic is based on simple gears and mechanism. Students are urged to know basic mechanics like pulley systems, pumps, wheel and axe, lever,etc. Tricky questions also come from topics like rotational motion objects in rotation and simple gears. Students must also be familiar with chain knots and hinges.
Solution:
Pulling the pump lever upwards causes the piston to move downwards and the foot valve to close; the piston non-return valve is open as the piston moves downwards. The result of this movement is that water from the underside of - the piston non-return valve is moved to the topside of the piston non-return valve.
In options C and D, we can see that the piston is not underwater so they will not follow the correct working principle, So options C and D are wrong.
Therefore, options A and B are correct.
Q.25 Six concentric white rings, each of equal thickness but having different diameters, are positioned on different planes in space. A one-point perspective view of the rings is shown below. Based on this view, which of the option(s) is/are TRUE?
A. Rings 6 and 3 are closer to the viewer compared to ring 5
B. Rings 2 and 4 are at an equal distance from the viewer
C. Ring 1 is the nearest to the viewer
D. Ring 5 is the farthest from the viewer
Approach: Question 25 is based on image manipulation and object thickness. Students must begin with naming each ring and solve it.
Solution:
Concentric circles are defined as two more circles with common centres.
ATQ,
The white rings are of equal thickness but have different parameters. So we can say options A, B, and C are correct as the viewer will be outside the circle, so the nearest point is ring 1 but the farthest will be 6 not, 5. Therefore, option D is wrong.
Difficulty Level | Easy |
Ideal Time | 30-35 minutes |
Good Attempt | 28 Questions |
Focus Areas | Mirror images, animation patterns, silhouettes, light and shadows, statements, direction sense, non-verbal reasoning, and paper folding are also examples. |
Approach: Question 56 of the MCQs section of the paper deals with image rotation and pattern making. Students must develop immense imagination and be adequately prepared for such Non-Verbal Reasoning. This is an especially tricky section as it tests student's abilities spontaneously.
Solution:
So option B is correct.
Part B, Drawing questions, is meticulously crafted to test an aspirant to reflect practically within the given time frame. Let’s understand the requirements for part B.\
Focus: The question mainly attempts to check the student’s perspective drawing abilities. The question also aims to see how well the student has understood the concept of proportion and light and shadow. This can be drawn in a one-point perspective of the room.
The type of questions that have come in UCEED 2024 will reflect UCEED 2025 in terms of pattern and the topic from which questions are asked. The focus on the topic has been as such: A lot of emphasis on mensuration and geometry, pattern analysis, surface counting image manipulation, etc. This is said to be reflected in the UCEED 2025 entrance exam. The drawing question might have an emphasis on perspective and proportion or shading capabilities. Students can diligently prepare in order to crack UCEED 2025. They can also refer to UCEED books for preparation for reference.
Overall, the UCEED question paper 2024 was moderate but time-consuming. Students preparing for this exam can look into strategies like How to prepare for UCEED in a year to get a better hang on preparation and ace the exam.

The UCEED exam is a slightly advanced design entrance exam with difficulty ranging from moderate to difficult.
Very few questions come from the GK section. They are usually from topics like architectural styles, Indian sports, design theory, art history, and other static GK.
Students are asked practical questions that assess them based on topics like perspective, proportion, and light and shadow.
The MSQ section is the toughest as it includes negative markings as well as multiple right answers for the same question.
Students are tested based on their logical thinking capabilities, based on topics like Non-verbal reasoning, surface counting, geometry and mensuration, pattern manipulation, etc.
