The National Institute of Design will notify the revised the NID 2026 tie-breaking rule on its official website - admissions.nid.edu. The NID 2026 tie-breaker rule will be used to rank the candidates if two or more candidates obtain the same score in the NID DAT result. The NID selection process has undergone a change due to the revised weightage being assigned to the prelims and mains result. The authorities prescribe a separate tie-breaker rule for the two parts of NID DAT 2026 - prelims and mains. Further, there are separate tie-breaker rules for the NID entrance exam and the NID M.Des entrance exam. In this article, let's look at how the NID 2026 tie-breaker rule works.

As per the NID 2026 selection process, candidates first appear for the NID DAT prelims. The shortlisted candidates then appear for the NID DAT mains. The final NID admissions are done based on the score of the mains exam. The prelims score will not have any weightage and is only a qualifying exam in the selection process.
The NID 2026 prelims tie breaker policy has not been released yet.
As per last year, when the total number of marks in NID DAT scored by two or more candidates is the same, the following tie-breaking rule was be applied to award the ranks to the students:

The NID DAT 2026 tie breaking policy for mains has not been released yet.

The NID B.Des prelims has no weightage in the final selection. The studio test component of NID B.Des mains carries a 60% weight while the in-person sensitivity test carries a 40% weight.
In the NID M.Des selection process, prelims have been assigned no weightage. Within the mains, the studio test has been assigned a 40% weightage while the interview has been assigned 60% weightage.

As 563 rank in nid dat exam cannot guarantee admission in designing college but it could be a good chance to explore some campus as if you are not from general category as category role plays an important role . But now you can do one thing focus on your strengthening your protofile or preparing for the studio test (bdes) or interview (mdes).

No, IPU (Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University) does not accept NID DAT Prelims score for admission to the B.Des (Bachelor of Design) program.
Instead, IPU conducts its own entrance test or may consider CUET (UG) scores for B.Des admissions, depending on the latest admission guidelines. Always refer to the university's official prospectus for the year you're applying to for the final admission criteria.
