NIFT PG Courses: Overview

National Institute of Fashion Technology offers three postgraduate courses with a duration of 2 years. NIFT courses at post-graduation level are MFM, MFTech and MDes which are related to the three aspects of fashion. To understand more about the courses, refer to the table given below.

NIFT PG Courses Eligibility 2026

For most of the NIFT master's courses eligibility is that the aspirants need to have an under-graduation degree. NIFT exam 2026 eligibility criteria will be released at nift.ac.in. However, until then, candidates can refer to the eligibility criteria as per the previous year. There are no age restrictions also for NIFT Masters courses eligibility. The individual NIFT PG course's eligibility criteria based on education qualification has been listed below.

NIFT Masters Courses Eligibility: MDes

• Undergraduate Degree in any discipline from any Institute / University recognized by law in India. OR
• Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT / NID.

NIFT PG Courses Eligibility: MFTech

• B.F.Tech. from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). OR
• B.E / B.Tech. from any Institute / University recognized by law in India.

NIFT Masters Courses Eligibility: MFM

• Undergraduate Degree in any discipline from any Institute / University recognized by law in India. OR
• Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT / NID.

NIFT PG Courses Entrance Exam 2026

The students who want to join the National Institute of Fashion Technology must apply for the NIFT exam 2026 conducted by NTA. This entrance examination is conducted every year to select the best students across the country for master’s programmes at NIFT campuses. The students must apply for the NIFT PG Courses entrance exam which are different for all the 3 specialisations.

NIFT PG Courses Entrance Exam for MDes

The NIFT PG Courses entrance exam for Master of Design Course includes CAT and GAT exam at first step. The students are tested based on their creative ability test which judges their drawing skills and creativity. The general ability test is directed more towards understanding the design aptitude, current affairs and general knowledge, English knowledge, quantitative ability etc. The students who qualify in both these papers need to sit for a personal interview round that is conducted in the NIFT campuses in India. The students are judged based on their personality, confidence, and speaking abilities.

NIFT PG Courses Entrance Exam: MFM and MFTech

The students who are planning to pursue MFM and MFTech, only need to appear for the GAT exam at the first step. If they qualify the GAT entrance exam which consists of design aptitude questions, logical reasoning, quantitative ability, English etc. they will proceed to appear in the personal interview round. The personal interview round consists of questions related to the field of fashion and current affairs which tests the communicative skills of the students.

NIFT Masters Courses Syllabus: MDes

NIFT MDes course subjects consist of a multi-disciplinary and multidimensional syllabus that provides an approach to various concepts, materials, technology, culture, business, and innovation related to the fashion industry. The students can form their own career path with the skills they develop during the two years of this course. Research is one of the key elements of the program which allows the students to undertake challenges to solve the complex systems of the fashion industry. The master of Fashion Technology is a course which can only be done with a prior knowledge of government production. The students learn about the techno managerial roles of fashion and allied manufacturing industries. The students gain knowledge about the apparel manufacturing industry and the various operations and processes involved to create a garment. Along with these skills the course also improves the managerial knowledge required in the students.

Technology plays a very important role in understanding the manual as well as computer aided design constructions of the garments. Skills such as production and demand planning skills, technology and data management skills are honed during the program. NIFT PG Courses Syllabus: MFM

The Master of Fashion Management course creates the leaders for the new generations in the field of fashion. The students learn about management, marketing, merchandising, retailing, etc related to garment export and retail sectors of the fashion industry.
