Student for NIFT entrance exam must be aware how Creative Ability Test is one of the most crucial exam.However, they are often gets confused in one thing that is how any questions are there in NIFT-CAT exam?The answer is slightly different from what students expect, because NIFT CAT is not a typical question-based exam. It is a creativity-driven test where a small number of questions carry very high weightage and directly influence your final rank.Before diving deeper, aspirants should clearly understand what the NIFT entrance exam is and how it works, as NIFT- CAT plays a central role in the overall selection process as it contains 50% weigtage in BDes whereas, 40% weightage in MDes programmes.

As per the NIFT 2026 exam pattern, CAT focuses on drawing, storytelling, and visual interpretation of themes for NIFT BDes 2026 candidates. However, for NIFT 2026 MDes candidates, questions are more concept-driven and test higher-level design thinking.
In the NIFT 2026 admission process, the Creative Ability Test (CAT) carries the highest weightage, making it the most decisive stage of selection. For BDes, CAT accounts for 50% of the final score, while for MDes, it contributes 40%, clearly highlighting that strong CAT performance is essential to secure a top rank and preferred NIFT campus.
Since NIFT does not provide its official question paper, a few NIFT Previous question papers are published on the NTA official website for both UG and PG programs, and according to those NIFT-CAT question papers, the approximate questions that come into the NIFT-CAT exam are as follows:

The NIFT CAT exam does not have a fixed number of questions. Most years, candidates are asked 1 to 3 descriptive, drawing-based questions that test creativity and visual thinking.
