The National Institute of Design has announced the NID BDes seat allotment 2026 date on its official website. The NID counselling 2026 process will start after the NID result has been declared. Shortlisted candidates will be required to upload the documents and submit their institute preferences. The NID seat allotment will be done based on the candidate’s rank and the institute's preferences given by them. The NID BDes result for mains will be declared on or before May 28, 2026. The NID DAT 2026 mains for BDes includes a studio sensitivity test and an in-person sensitivity test, both of which have concluded. For the final selection of the candidates, only scores in the NID entrance exam for mains will be considered.
The NID authorities released the NID counselling and seat allotment notification on May 19. The important dates for NID counselling and seat allotment are given below.

The candidates are required to upload the following documents for NID counselling -
Any one valid photo identity (Aadhar Card, Election ID, Driving License, PAN Card/Valid
Passport)
Birth Certificate OR Proof of Date of Birth
10th Mark-sheet
12th Mark-sheet* (in case the result is announced but the hard copy is not available, the digital /Digi locker copy of the same, duly attested by the School Principal, needs to be uploaded
In the case of those candidates whose Class XII results have not yet been declared, a Self-
Undertaking in the prescribed format (Annexure-1) as attached, duly signed by the candidate and her/his parents, needs to be uploaded.
GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST Certificate, if applicable
PwD Certificate and UDID Card, if applicable
Valid Passport, if applied under the Supernumerary (Overseas) category
Transfer Certificate or Migration Certificate (if not available, then a handwritten self- declaration should be uploaded, duly signed by the candidate, stating that “I will submit the Transfer/Migration Certificate at the time of physical verification of documents)
The fee to be paid by different categories of candidates to confirm the seat obtained during the NID seat allotment 2026 is given below -
Rs 45,100/- (online payment) + Convenience Charges (as applicable) for GEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD candidates;
Rs 55,686/- (online payment) + Convenience Charges (as applicable) for Overseas candidates from the SAARC & African Countries, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam students.
Rs 1,22,661/- (online payment) + Convenience Charges (as applicable) for Overseas candidates who belong to the rest of the world.
