The NIFT spot round is the process of allocating the vacant seats to the eligible candidates in any of the NIFT campuses. The NIFT spot round admission process includes registration, document verification, and seat allotment. The NIFT authorities will release the NIFT spot round dates in the NIFT counselling schedule.
Candidates who want to know about the NIFT spot round must go through the NIFT eligibility criteria for the NIFT spot round registration. As the spot round is conducted to fill vacant seats left after the regular counselling rounds, before registering, candidates should understand the seat conversion and category-merging rules followed during the spot round. Candidates Who Withdrew Admission | Candidates who accepted a seat and later withdrew their admission are not eligible for further seat allotment rounds. However, they can participate in the NIFT Spot Round. |
Conversion of OBC (NCL), EWS and Domicile Seats | Unfilled seats under OBC (NCL), EWS, Domicile (Open), and Domicile (OBC-NCL) categories will be converted into Open category seats during the spot round. |
Unfilled Domicile SC/ST Seats | Vacant Domicile SC and Domicile ST seats will be merged with the respective SC and ST category seats. |
Merger of Unfilled Domicile Seats | Unfilled Domicile (Open), Domicile (SC), Domicile (ST), and Domicile (OBC-NCL) seats will be merged into their respective category seats during the spot round. |
Unfilled OBC (NCL) and EWS Seats | Any remaining OBC (NCL) and EWS seats will be merged with Open category seats in the final seat allotment round. |
Unfilled PwD Seats | Vacant PwD seats will be merged with their respective categories during the spot round of seat allocation. |
The NIFT spot round allows all the shortlisted students to secure admission by filling vacant seats in the NIFT campuses. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can participate in this round by registering online and completing the required admission formalities. The NIFT spot round registrations were open from July 19 – 22, 2026, on its official website. Candidates also had to upload the documents and fill their campus choices through their login. The spot round is the last round of NIFT 2026 counselling.
Authorities have released the seat allotment for the NIFT spot round on July 24, 2026. Candidates can download their provisional allotment letter from the admission portal. Start by visiting the official NIFT seat allotment website - nift.admissions.nic.in.
On the homepage, there will be a spot round seat allotment list that candidates can click on the NIFT spot round allotment list link
Candidates will then be taken to a login window where they need to enter their NIFT login credentials to view their NIFT spot round seat allotment status.
Finally, candidates can download the NIFT spot round allotment list and verify the seat allotment for the course they have applied for.
