The Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design is scheduled to be conducted on January 18, 2026, from 9 am to 12 pm. IIT Bombay conducts the UCEED exam for admission into the B.Des programme of 6 participating IITs and IIITDM Jabalpur.

UCEED 2026 Exam Date and Time

UCEED 2026 will be conducted on January 18, 2026 Sunday between 9 am 10 12 pm. Both Part A and Part B of the examination will be conducted on the same day. Candidates have to attempt both parts of the exam to be considered for admission.

Any request for a change in the exam date and time or the exam centre will not be entertained

UCEED 2026 Exam Day Guidelines

IIT Bombay has notified the exam day guidelines in the information brochure. Failure to comply with the instructions can lead to the candidate’s disqualification from the UCEED admission process.

Important Exam Day Instructions for UCEED 2026

  • Candidates must report at the allotted exam centre at 7 am
  • Candidates must carry a printout of the UCEED admit card along with a valid original photo identity proof
  • Entry to the exam centre is not allowed once the exam starts
  • The identity of the candidate will be verified by the officials at the exam centre. In case of any doubt about the candidate’s identity, he or she may not be allowed to appear for the exam
  • No extra time will be allotted beyond the stipulated time to attend the exam
  • In case of any technical glitches while attempting the exam, candidates may be shifted to another terminal, and the lost time will be adjusted accordingly.
  • Candidates are not allowed to carry any electronic devices, such as mobile phones, smartwatches inside the examination hall
  • No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall before completion of the exam

UCEED Exam Day Guidelines for Drawing Materials

  • Candidates must bring their own pencils to attempt Part B of the question paper.
  • Shades of black colour are allowed.
  • Sketch pens, colour pencils, poster colours, and other colouring materials are not allowed to be carried inside the examination hall
  • Candidates can bring an A4-size writing board
  • No borrowing of stationery from other candidates is allowed inside the exam hall

Items Prohibited in the UCEED Exam

The authorities will put up a list of prohibited items for UCEED on its official website. The following is a list of items that are not allowed to be carried inside the examination hall for UCEED 2026 as per the notified exam day guidelines.

  • Smartphones/Mobile phones/Tablets
  • Watches of any type
  • Abacus
  • Slide rule
  • Log books
  • Study materials
  • Geometry box
  • Sketch pens and coloring materials of any type

In your case, you do not need a separate or additional category validity ceriticate for IITs. Caste validiity certificate only exists for students from Maharashtra. The central format is sufficient for IIT admission.
