Candidates must appear for and qualify in all components of the NIFT entrance exam for the respective programmes to secure final admission.
Aspirants have to apply online for the scribe service at the time of submitting the NIFT 2027 application form. A copy of the PwBD certificate & UDID must be uploaded at the time of registration. PwD candidates who are visually impaired Or dyslexic (severe) Or have a disability in the upper limbs Or have lost fingers/ hands that prevent them from properly operating the computer can also avail the services of a scribe (amanuensis).
The following persons are eligible to opt for a service in NIFT 2027-
Persons with benchmark disabilities in the category of blindness, locomotor disability (Both Arms affected BA) and cerebral palsy.
A person who has a physical limitation and a scribe is essential to write the exam on his/her behalf, provided a certificate in the prescribed format is issued by a CMO/Civil Surgeon/ Medical Superintendent of a Government Health Care Institution.
A PwD candidate with less than 40% disability and a limitation in writing, where a scribe is essential to write the exam on his/her behalf, provided a certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-B) issued by a CMO/Civil Surgeon/ Medical Superintendent of a Govt. Health Care Institution is produced
PwD candidate with not less than 40% disability and has a limitation in writing and a scribe is essential to write the exam on his/her behalf, provided a certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-B) issued by a CMO/Civil Surgeon/ Medical Superintendent of a Govt. Health Care Institution is produced
Candidates who are applying under the PwD category must possess a Disability Certificate and Unique Disability ID (with 40% or more disability) issued by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. No other certificate or document will be accepted by the authorities. Candidates are also required to produce the certificate at the time of seat allotment and reporting.
As per the exam guidelines, the Scribe will be provided by the exam authorities. However, the candidate can also bring his/her own scribe if they choose, after filling up the Annexure-A as per the given format.
It must, however, be noted that a scribe is allowed only for the General Ability Test. A scribe is not allowed for the Creative Ability Test, which is a subjective exam that requires candidates to sketch and draw. The CAT has to be attempted by the candidates on their own.
The role of a scribe in the NIFT examination is clearly defined. The scribe is required to function within those limits. As per the guidelines, the scribe can only help the candidate in reading the questions and/ or keying in the answers as per the directions of the candidate.
However, a scribe is not allowed to help the candidate by way of explaining the questions or suggesting any solutions. If the rules are violated, then the applicant is likely to be disqualified from the examination process.
A compensatory time of not less than 20 minutes per hour of examination will be provided for candidates who use a scribe. If the examination is of 3 hours duration, the compensatory time will be 1 hour. In case the duration of the examination is less or more than 03 hours, the compensatory time shall be on a pro rata basis.
The compensatory time will be given to a candidate with benchmark disabilities, irrespective of whether they use a scribe or not.
If a candidate has availed the services of a scribe and/or utilised the compensatory time, but does not fulfil the eligibility criteria for the same or does not possess the extent of disability that qualifies for the use of a scribe and/or compensatory time, the candidate will not be considered for evaluation, ranking, and will be disqualified from the counselling, and admission process. In case such a candidate has already been admitted to any Institution, the admission will be cancelled.
