The NIFT 2026 application form has been opened for registration on December 8, 2026. Candidates who are interested in appearing for the NIFT entrance exam 2026 need to fill out and submit the NIFT 2026 application form on the website - exams.nta.nic.in/niftee. The NIFT 2026 registration must be completed by January 6, 2026. Candidates can also submit the NIFT application form with a late fee in the window between January 7 - 10, 2026. Furthermore, when paying the NIFT application fee, candidates need to verify their category and the number of courses they have chosen to appear for. In the event of any errors on the application form, candidates will have a NIFT application correction window 2026.

The National Testing Agency has commenced the NIFT application process from December 8, 2026 onwards. Candidates can follow the schedule for the NIFT application process in the table below.

Applicants are encouraged to prepare all the necessary documents in advance before starting the NIFT 2026 application process. Having these details ready will help avoid delays while filling out the form. The required documents and information include:
A valid and active email ID
Personal information as per official records
Educational qualification details
Scanned copy of a recent passport-size photograph
Scanned image of the candidate’s signature
Category certificate for SC/ST/OBC candidates, if applicable
Disability certificate for PwD candidates, if applicable
Credit or debit card details for online payment of the NIFT 2026 application fee

Step 1 – NIFT 2026 Registration
Candidates must first create a register on the official website to begin the NIFT 2026 application process. The NIFT registration process can be completed by visiting the official website exams.nta.nic.in/niftee and selecting the option for new registration. Candidates need to enter the required basic information to generate login credentials:
Candidate’s full name
Date of birth
Active email ID
Mobile number
Father’s or mother’s name
Step 2 – Filling the NIFT 2026 Application Form
After successful registration, log in using the registered email ID and date of birth. The personal details provided during registration earlier will be auto-filled. Candidates need to complete the remaining sections by entering:
Preferred exam centre choices
Educational and academic information
Contact and communication details
Programme and course preferences
Step 3 – Uploading Scanned Documents
In this step, applicants must upload scanned copies of the required documents as per the prescribed specifications. Once the uploads are completed, click on the Next button to proceed further. Documents usually include the marksheet for XII or the undergraduate course marksheet, category/disability certificates, among others.
Step 4 – NIFT 2026 Application Fee Payment
Candidates must complete the application process by paying the NIFT 2026 application fee online. Payment can be made using a credit card or debit card through the available payment gateway.
Candidates can refer to the table below for the details on how much they should pay for the NIFT application fee when submitting the application form. The NIFT 2026 application fee has been reduced considerably when compared to the NIFT application fees from the previous year.

Candidates are given an opportunity to make corrections in their NIFT 2026 application form if any changes are required in personal or educational information. The application correction facility will be available online from January 12 to January 14, 2026. Applicants should carefully review their details during this period and update them wherever necessary.
It is important to note that the exam centre preferences cannot be modified once submitted. If a candidate is ineligible for the NIFT entrance exam 2026 after making edits, the application fee will not be refunded. Furthermore, if any false information is found, the admission authorities can cancel the candidature at any stage of the admission process.

The following fields can be edited during the application correction period, as notified by the authorities:
Personal Details: State Domicile, Present or Permanent Address.
Family Details: Mother's Name, Father's Name.
Educational Details: Board/University, and names of the Institutions.
Documents: You can re-upload your Photograph or Signature if the previous ones were blurry or rejected.
What Cannot Be Changed?
The following fields cannot be edited to ensure the integrity of your registration and communication channels:
Candidate's Name
Registered Mobile Number
Registered Email ID
Exam Centre City: The option to change the test city is typically not allowed during the correction window to prevent logistical issues for the NTA.

Hello,
Yes, a diploma holder in Computer Engineering can apply for the NIFT entrance exam , but only through the lateral entry route.
NIFT allows candidates with a 3-year or 4-year engineering diploma from a recognized board to apply for B.F.Tech (Fashion Technology) through lateral entry. The diploma must be approved by AICTE or the State Technical Board.
The age limit is usually 24 years for the general category.
So yes, you are eligible, as Computer Engineering is an engineering diploma.
