SEED 2020 : Dates, Portfolio Submission, Results, Merit list
SEED 2020: Symbiosis Institute of Design has declared the result of SEED along with the merit list on June 2 in online mode. Students can check the result by entering the required credentials - login id and password. Earlier the institute scheduled to declare the SEED result on May 29 but it has been delayed due to unanticipated circumstances. The examination cell successfully conducted a portfolio review and online personal interaction from May 20 to 25, 2020. Considering the COVID 19 outbreak, Symbiosis Institute of Design has modified the admission process. As per the revised admission process, candidates were evaluated through portfolio review and personal interaction over video conferencing scheduled over a period of six days. Candidates would have to upload their portfolio. Uploading of the portfolio had started from May 11 and test-takers could upload it till May 23, 2020. Candidates could upload the portfolio at least two days prior to the chosen PI date. Aspirants could book the slot for online interaction (personal interview through video conferencing) from May 15 to 17. Candidates could download the admit card on May 19, 2020, and had to produce in print/soft copy during the personal interaction. By virtue of the present situation caused by COVID 19 and the unpredictability regarding the end of the lockdown, the institute revised the admission process for the academic year 2020-21. As it was important to evaluate candidates aptitude for the admission in design programmes, the following admission process were considered to select the students. The admission process was carried out in online mode where candidates could participate from their home or the place of living. The revised admission process are listed below.
- The new admission process consists of a portfolio review and personal interaction over video conferencing scheduled over a period of six days starting 20th May to 25th May, 2020.
- Candidates have to upload their portfolio and it has to be uploaded at least two days prior to the chosen PI date. Click here to upload the portfolio.
- Candidates have to select their choice for the online personal interview. The link for slot booking will be updated by the official on May 15 evening.
- Test-takers can download the admit card on May 19, 2020, in online mode. The print/soft copy of admit card/call letter has to be presented at the time of personal interaction.
- Candidates will have to appear for the personal interaction on their chosen time slot and date.
- During the online personal interview, interaction related to the portfolio will also take.
- Students will receive a link for online interaction on their registered email address from the concerned authorities.
- Test-takers will also have to accept a declaration that no part of the online interaction shall be recorded or shared by them on any social media platform.
- The institute will prepare a merit list based on the portfolio review and personal interaction. The portfolio carries 60% weightage and personal interaction carries 40% weightage.
Note that since the SEED 2020 has been cancelled, the SEED registration fee of amount Rs 1750 will be refunded to the candidates soon.
Guidelines for portfolio
Aspirants digital portfolio must be a compilation of their best works showcasing their skills, passion and interest in a variety of areas and techniques. Test-takers must click a good quality picture of their portfolio and compile them in a PowerPoint Presentation of maximum 15 slides. Students will have to upload the portfolio in pdf file of up to 3 Mb. Make sure you include your best work in your portfolio. Students must note that if the authority found any incidence of unfair means in the making of your portfolio then the candidature will automatically stand cancelled. Check the following parameters that must contain in the portfolio.
- Sketches, mixed-media illustrations and digital work
- Collaging of images, 2D and 3D articles
- 3D objects like sculpture, fabric products, gadgets, art-inspired products etc.
Students must keep their basic art stationery (paper and pencils) handy as during the personal interaction the authority may be asked for a quick demonstration of their skill. This list is in no way exhaustive and candidates are free to include any other stuff which they feel represents their passion for design best.
The institute extended the end date to fill the application form of SEED till May 10, 2020. Earlier the deadline for SEED registration as per the old announcement is April 16. The concerned authority released the official notification of SEED 2020 in January 2020. SEED application form 2020 has been released on January 22, 2020, in online mode. SEED Eligibility Criteria 2020
The eligibility criteria of SEED covers the academic, age and other parameters which the candidates must meet before they start filling the application form.
A candidate must meet the below-mentioned Eligibility Criteria for SEED 2020
A candidate must have qualified 10+2 (any stream) or equivalent OR 10+3 diploma recognized by State Board of Technical Education with minimum 50% (SC/ST - 45%) aggregate marks scored in the final exam to be eligible for the program.
A candidate appearing for the final examination of 10+2 or 10+3 Diploma program may also apply provided the results of the examination should have been declared by June of the admission year or prior to being eligible for the program.

The first merit list of SEED 2020 is available for candidates on June 2. A total of 207 seats will be allocated to the shortlisted candidates across eight design specializations on merit basis. The merit list will be prepared based on the performance of candidates in the entrance exam.
SEED Selection procedure 2020
(as per the old advertisement) Admissions to shortlisted candidates to various B.Des programmes will be given in the following manner:
Level 1: Candidates had to appear for SEED 2020. Qualified candidates will be eligible to appear for studio test and personal interaction. Shortlisting of candidates will be done only on the basis of preference 1 selected during registration.
Level 2: The Institute conducted studio test and personal interaction at its Pune campus from the fourth week of May to the first week of June 2020.
Final selection of candidates will be done on the basis of candidates’ cumulative performance in SEED 2020 entrance exam, studio test and personal interaction.

Question: Are there any reservations for the OBC?
No, there are no reservations for the OBC. Candidates belonging to the OBC category must apply under the Open category.
Question: Why do we need to pay an additional ₹ 1,000/- per programme?
Candidates entrance scores will be considered for shortlisting candidates for the further admission process (PI-WAT / ST-PI) by individual Institutes ONLY for the programmes that you have paid for.
