It is advised by the experts that students should first understand what is expected of them in the Part-B (Drawing and sketching) section of the UCEED exam according to the UCEED 2027 syllabus and UCEED 2027 exam pattern. What students need to understand here that artistic skills can score well in the drawing section is not the case here. The Part-B of the UCEED exam is designed to assess:
Creativity and imagination
Visualization skills
Perspective understanding
Proportion and composition
Storytelling ability
Observation skills
Communication of ideas through sketches
The focus should not be on creating beautiful artwork but on conveying ideas clearly and effectively. Examiners in the UCEED exam assess student’s visualization, creativity, communication of ideas, proportion, perspective, and problem-solving skills through sketches.
Over the last few years, the emphasis has seen an increase in the Part B section. It has been observed from UCEED 2024 (two questions, 100 marks) that making strong drawing and creative skills is very important for students to prepare to crack the UCEED 2027 exam. As Part B of the UCEED exam carries a significant weight in the overall result of the exam, preparation for this section is very important for students in order to get admission.
Drawing or Part-B section can be a game changer for students, as with Part A of the UCEED exam, there is no one right answer; instead, being subjective in nature, students get a fair chance to showcase their design and creative skills.
Students can incorporate these tips and strategies for the drawing questions in their UCEED 2027 preparation to increase their scores and excel:
Students should keep the first few minutes in the UCEED exam to sit with the question, read it carefully and understand what is asked and needed from them. Then come up with ideas and concepts for the solution. Create an outline and concept sketches to better understand how the solution can be executed.
The UCEED 2027 time management exercise creates a framework that provides better clarity among students and develops confidence while approaching a solution.

Students often make this mistake of spending over time on creating beautiful sketches and less time for innovation skills. A simple sketch that clearly conveys an idea will get them better scores than a beautiful drawing that does not hold creative and innovative solutions. Examiners in the UCEED exam are not looking for artists with drawing skills but for designers with creative and thinking ability.
Students are advised by experts to analyze good and bad designs around them in order to develop design thinking ability as this is the most important skill examiners look for in students preparing for the UCEED 2027 exam. Students are advised to practice with UCEED previous year’s drawing questions to understand how to represent their design thinking skills. A good way to develop the skills for design aptitude is to start creating solutions using real life inspirations and case studies.
Learn and understand one-point, two-point, and three-point perspectives for the UCEED 2027 exam as a lot of perspective questions have been seen in over last UCEED question papers making it an important topic. Practice sketching everyday objects from various viewpoints to improve the observation skills and to understand basic proportions & scale. Focus on how objects reduce in size as they move further away.
Students should concentrate on developing unique, creative, and useful product design since many of the UCEED exam's questions involve product or object design. In order to represent how the designed product works, students are advised to practice creating new designs for already-existing products and sketch them from various angles to show structure. Product Design questions have had an increased weightage in UCEED exam over last years therefore making it very important for students to master. Students can also refer to Drawing Techniques from UCEED Toppers to develop skills.
A lot of tasks in the UCEED exam involve students creating human figures and therefore students need to practice them to get good scores. To practice for figure compositions, students are advised to first start with stick figures and action lines. Candidates can practice drawing figures in various positions and begin with a better understanding of human and animal anatomy. To increase accuracy, use pictures or real-world figures as references and try to sketch them from memory once you have better hang on to them. Students can also follow Tips to Sketching Human Figures and Interaction for UCEED.
Part - B of the UCEED exam is considered generally lengthy by students as it can have parts in the same question with a number of sketches and design thinking tasks. Therefore it becomes very important for students to practice time management for the section in order to complete tasks on time on actual exam day. Regularly take UCEED mock tests and UCEED sample Papers under timed conditions. Also, follow time management tips for UCEED 2027 to improve your preparation strategies.
To understand what types of questions, language of the questions and patterns for UCEED Part-B, students should solve UCEED previous year questions. This practice helps students to enter the exam with confidence with understanding of what examiners are looking for from the students.
