Drawing Questions For NID DAT 2027

Key changes for NID 2027 Exam Pattern

It was seen in the NID 2026 question paper that it did not have any Part-A section and questions were only based on creative ability. All the questions were based on drawing and design thinking aptitude. Although NID is famous for its experimental format and uncertainty, we cannot say for sure that the NID 2027 Exam will not contain any Part-A based questions and therefore it is smart to prepare for both keeping drawing and design aptitude as main focus.

As per the revised selection process and NID DAT Exam Pattern , the NID DAT prelims result will not have any weightage in the final selection of candidates for B.Des and M.Des programmes. NID Mains exam will have 60% weightage for studio test and 40% weightage for in person interview for NID B.Des selection.

Types of Drawing Questions asked in NID 2027 Exam

The most common drawing questions that can be asked in the NID 2027 exam and needed to be mastered by the students to crack the exam are given below:

    Perspective Drawing

It is important to first learn and understand one-point, two-point, and three-point perspectives before jumping on to complex sketches. Practice sketching everyday objects from various viewpoints to improve the observation skills.

    Product Design

Since many of the NID exam's questions focus on product or object design, students should focus on creating original, innovative and practical product design. It is very important to visually represent your product design in correct and appealing ways.

    Freehand Sketching

The NID DAT exam does not allow students to use rulers or any other drawing tools, therefore drawing without the aid of rulers or compasses can be intimidating for students in the exam. To overcome this students should practice drawing freehand sketches and work on their line and weight control.

    StoryBoarding

The NID DAT exam includes a lot of questions where students' ability to visually depict a series of events is assessed. It evaluates a candidate's ability to convey a narrative, idea, or sequence. Questions are asked to create a storyboard for a simple narrative, such as depicting the steps of an action or event.

Tips and Strategies for students to Tackle Drawing Questions for NID 2027

Given below are some important tips and study strategies for students to help them tackle the drawing questions for NID 2027 exam:

    1. Understand what is asked in the Question First

Read the question carefully before you start sketching. It is important to identify the user first and the problem given so that solution addresses the exact needs for a better and practical result.

    1. Focus on the Idea, Not Artistic Perfection

NID values creativity, problem-solving, and visual communication and therefore a simple sketch with a clear ideation and unique concept can score better than a highly detailed drawing.

    1. Practice Basic Shapes and Forms

Practice drawing basic shapes (cubes, spheres, cylinders) from various angles. This helps with understanding form and perspective.

    1. Improve Perspective Drawing

Regularly practice one-point and two-point perspective drawing questions as they have been seen to carry high weightage over the years in the NID exam.

    1. Practice Human Figures Daily

Human figures are an important part of drawing questions in the NID exam and therefore regular practice for them will help students to improve speed and accuracy for actual exam day.

    1. Strengthen Observation Skills

As the NID exam closely examines Observation skills, students must practice their memory skills by drawing and sketching everyday objects/scenarios from memory.

    1. Develop Design Thinking

Establish a Daily Drawing Practice: Make Time: Dedicate 30 minutes to an hour each day to drawing. Consistency is Key.

    1. Practice Storytelling Through Sketches

Creating scenes that clearly communicate the course of an event help students to master their Storytelling skills and improve their ability to present ideas visually.

    1. Solve Previous years Questions

NID DAT Previous Year Question Papers : Students can start by looking at previous year questions to understand the type of questions that are generally asked in NID DAT Exam.

    1. Time Management

NID Sample Papers and NID Mock Tests: Students can solve as many sample questions and mock tests as they can to develop a sense of the kind of questions asked and also develop a sense of confidence in them for the actual exam day.

Ques: Redesign a lunchbox for school children (ages 6–10).
Keep in mind the following factors while designing:

    • Ease of use for small hands

    • Portion control

    • Spill prevention

    • Attractive and fun appearance

    Solution:

    Description:

    • The lunchbox is shaped like a friendly cartoon animal (e.g., panda or dinosaur) to make it visually appealing and emotionally engaging.

    • It has three fixed compartments with rounded corners for easy scooping, promoting portion control without needing to open multiple containers.

    • The lid features a click-lock mechanism with soft rubber edges for spill prevention and easy opening for small hands.

    • It includes a foldable spoon and fork clip-in set within the lid, so children don’t lose their cutlery.

    • The lunchbox is made from lightweight, BPA-free plastic with a rubberized grip on the sides for easy handling.

    Why this works:

    • Encourages independent eating habits.

    • Prevents mess and confusion.

    • Creates a fun lunchtime experience, making kids look forward to using it.

Ques: Complete the story and draw the scenario as depicted in the story. “A girl in the backyard’..........’finally the bucket is filled’

    Solution:

Story : On a bright afternoon, ‘a little girl was wandering in the backyard’ of her house. Her curious eyes were scanning the area for all that was kept away from her by parents. In a corner of the garden she surprisingly spotted an old handpump with her dog following along the way. Her small hands couldn't resist to ripple the handle and try to pump with her full strength. Initially nothing happened except a few squeaky noises, with a harder push with the motivation of her pet dog, a trickle of water encouraged her to still go harder for unfolding the mystery. And finally a gush of water made her feel motivated to try harder and it all rewarded her with ‘finally the bucket was filled’ to splash and play with her companion.
