NIFT Situation Test 2026: Overview

The first round of NIFTEE is the NIFT GAT & CAT exams, and the second round is the situation test/studio test for UG and a personal interview round for PG candidates. Depending on the courses applied by the candidates, they will be required to attend different components of the second stage.

NIFT Situation Test 2026 Eligibility

The candidates who qualify the NIFT entrance exam and are shortlisted will be eligible to appear for the NIFT situation test 2026 for the B.Des admission. The candidates must appear for both the GAT and CAT exams. If a candidate does not appear for any one of the exams, then he/she will not be shortlisted for the situation test. NIFT Situation Test 2026 Syllabus

Shortlisted candidates for B.Des after the entrance exam are required to take a situation test, which is a hands-on test to evaluate the applicants' skills for material handling and the innovative ability for a given situation with the given set of materials. Candidates must note that no additional material will be provided or allowed.

The candidates will be asked to make a model. The model will be evaluated based on the following:

• Space visualisation
• Innovative and creative use of given material
• Composition of elements
• Colour Scheme
• Construction skill
• Finesse of the model and
• Overall presentation.

The above parameters will be checked with the write-up explaining the concept behind the model constructed. Since the medium of instruction in NIFT is English, candidates are advised to write in the English language itself. There won’t be any marks allotted for write-ups in any other language.

The use of outside or additional material in the making of a model or design is not allowed. Also, candidates trying to disclose their identity by writing any personal information or placing any identification mark on the model or design or write-up will be disqualified, and the final results of the candidates who are disqualified will not be declared.

The evaluation of the test will be conducted by the jury on the spot. The model will not be preserved for future reference.

NIFT Situation Test Pattern 2026

The NIFT situation test pattern 2026 is all about a hands-on test to evaluate the candidate’s skills to test the “material handling and the innovative ability” with a provided set of materials. The NIFT 2026 situation test pattern covers all the following parameters to assess the candidates' practical knowledge:

• The finesse of the model
• The overall presentation

NIFT 2026 Situation Test City Intimation Slip

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will issue the NIFT 2026 situation test city intimation slip online tentatively in the fourth week of May 2026, at the official website. The NIFT 2026 situation test city intimation slip mentions the name of the city in which the NIFT exam centre of the candidates is located. Candidates appearing for the NIFT 2026 situation test must check the city allotment for the exam beforehand.
