The Studio test mainly examines candidates' performance on their design thinking and problem solving abilities. This stage doesn't focus on written tests but examines candidates' practical application rather than theoretical knowledge. The studio test mainly observes how the candidate approaches the uses materials to present their ideas in the real situation. The NID DAT studio test/ studio sensitivity test will be conducted to all of the students together under the communication design faculty stream.
NID DAT is conducted for both B.Des and M.Des programs, and the candidates who are selected in the prelims must appear for the second stage exam. For the B.Des program, this stage includes the Studio Sensitivity Test and In-Person Sensitivity Test, while for the M.Des program, it consists of the Studio Test and Personal Interview.
Candidates have to carry stationery items such as model making, doodling, markers, pen, pencil, paper, cardboard, clay, wire and other materials used for model making/practical presentation. With the help of these items candidates have to make and present their ideas during the NID DAT Mains studio test. Through this test, NID authorities will examine your design skills, creativity, problem solving, innovation and attention to detail aspects.
In addition to the studio test, candidates have to appear for the personal interview separately as per candidates’s discipline choice within the communication design faculty stream. During the interview, candidates will be asked about their interests, portfolio, and understanding of design concepts. Candidates are advised to prepare well on these questions and answer them in a clear way.

It is also advised to avoid too much time on a single aspect as there is limited time, candidates have to present the final output neatly.
