The duration of the Situation Test is approx 02 hours as per the NIFT 2026 pattern, where you are provided with a “Standard Kit”, choice for the themes as per the question requirements. Exam Structure:
The exam consisted of two main questions, each offering three options. Candidates had to select and attempt one question, construct a 3D model, and submit a concise 100-word write-up explaining their concept.
Time Limit:
Two hours were allotted for the entire process—planning, building, and explaining the proposed design models.

This year, the kit contained around 19 different materials for Model-Making questions in the NIFT Situation Test, which was quite overwhelming. Typical items included chart paper, straws, clay, threads, colored paper, ice-cream sticks, and more.
Students preparing for the NIFT Situation Test 2026 are advised to first understand the types of questions asked in the exam to familiarize themselves with the test and also practice with the most important questions to increase their chances of success.

Task: Create a 3D Model that visually interprets one of the following phrases/ Emotions as described below in the options. Also describe your concept in 100 words in the space given below, \talking about the choice of Form, Color, and material application.

Solution: A Ray of Hope
My Model interprets a “Ray of Hope” through a contrast of stability and transcendence. The heavy irregular base made from the corrugated sheets represent a chaotic life full of challenges. Emerging from this a singular , vertical silver wire representing a “Ray”, symbolising the focus and directions in life. The use of the crumbled yellow cellophane at the top creates a faceted “Crown” of light. The cotton threads create a tension based connection between the base and the ray represented. This is a model illustration of “Optimism’ out of all the odds.

Part -III (Practise Question)
Task: Create a 3D model depicting an incidence from any of the following given historical events . Also you have to follow the given constraints while making the model.
An incidence from “Mahabharata”
An incidence from “The Ramayana”
An incidence from tales of “Panchatantra”
Constraints :
You can use maximum of 07 materials of your choice
The model must fit in 12" x 12" x 12" space
Provide a 100 words description note in the given space
