NID DAT 2020 - National Institute of Design (NID) released NID DAT 2020 application form on October 1, 2019 and candidates can fill the form till November 7, 2019. The entrance exam is conducted for aspirants seeking admissions in the undergraduate design programmes offered at Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Bengaluru campuses. NID DAT is a 2-stage competitive exam, including preliminary and the main exam. The authorities will conduct NID DAT 2020 Prelims in offline mode on December 29, 2019. Test-takers can download the admit card from December 20, 2019 onwards. NID DAT 2020 result will be declared in online mode on March 19, 2020. NID DAT 2020 Important Notification

National Institute of Design (NID) announced on its website that NID DAT 2020 admission process. The application form of NID DAT 2020 has been released on October 1, 2019. Candidates should keep the requisite documents ready that will be required to upload, along with the application form.


What's new in NID DAT 2020

  • Certain Number of seats will be reserved for EWS category.
  • There has been an increase in the number of exam centres for NID DAT main 2020. Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Assam have been added. Kurukshetra and Vijayawada have been removed.
  • There has been an increase in the total number of seats. As compared to last year, this year there are approximately 125 seats for the undergraduate level design programme. Last year, the number of seats were 100 for the same.

NID DAT Eligibility Criteria 2020

The eligibility criteria of NID DAT states the age limit, educational qualification and the qualifying exams that are accepted by the National Institute of Design. All applicants applying for B.Des. and GDPD programmes must fulfil both age and education qualification criteria. NID DAT Eligibility Criteria

Age Criteria Qualification

Aspirants born on or after July 1, 2000, are eligible to apply. However, there is a relaxation of three years for those belonging to the reserved categories.


Students, who have passed or will appear for class 12 examination in any stream in the academic year 2019–20 from any recognized board, such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or their equivalent can apply for NID DAT 2020.



Qualifying exams that are accepted by National Institute of Design are mentioned below:

Final examination of the 10+2 system under a central or state board recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU, Refer http://www.aiu.ac.in).


Intermediate or two-year pre-university examination under a board or university recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU, Refer www.aiuweb.org).


Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.


Senior secondary school examination under the National Institute of Open Schooling, with a minimum of five subjects.


Any public school, board or university examination completed in India or in any foreign country recognised is considered equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU, Referwww.aiuweb.org).


H.S.C. vocational examination.


General Certificate Education (GCE) examination at the Advanced (A) level taken in London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka.


  • AICTE approved three-year Full-time Diploma after Class X offered by Board of Technical Education of any state in India or Union Territories as mentioned on http://www.aicte-india.org/statisticbote.php.


Candidates who took the final examination for class XII (or equivalent) outside India or from a board that is not mentioned above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) confirming that the examination they go through is equivalent to the class XII examination conducted in India. Candidates have to submit this certificate at the time of document verification.




NID DAT Application Form 2020

Application form of NID DAT 2020 is available in online mode from October 1 to November 7, 2019 without any late fee. Candidates can submit their application form in online mode by paying late fee till November 13, 2019 with late fees. The NID DAT 2019 application fee is Rs.2000 for General/OBC category candidates and Rs.1000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates. Candidates can make the payment both in online or offline mode through Demand Draft (DD). They have to prepare a DD in favour of ‘All India Management Association’ payable at New Delhi which has to be sent to the institute along with a printout of the application form. NID DAT Exam Centres 2020

The first stage of NID DAT 2020 prelims will be held across 21 cities in India. Candidates will have to choose one centre at the time of filling the application form. The NID DAT 2020 exam centre will be allotted to applicants as per their preference mentioned in the application form. NID DAT Admit Card 2020

NID will release NID DAT admit card for prelims stage for download from December 20, 2019. (4:00 pm). NID DAT 2020 admit card will mention candidates’ details including exam schedule, venue, and important instructions. Candidates must check the details on the NID DAT 2020 admit card for any discrepancies. If there is any, candidates must get in touch with the authorities. The authorities will issue NID DAT mains admit card in online mode from April 14, 2020 (4:00 pm) onwards. The steps to download the admit card are given below:

  • Visit official website of NID DAT (admissions.nid.edu).

  • Enter the login credentials

  • Instructions with regard to the admit card will appear on the screen

  • Click against the 'Declaration' and then click on 'Proceed to download admit card' button.

  • Click on the 'Submit' button

  • Check all the details mentioned on NID DAT 2020 admit card

  • Download NID DAT admit card 2020 and take a printout of the same

NID DAT Answer Key 2020

The answer key of NID DAT 2020 answer key will be released in online mode in second week of February 2020. Candidates can check the answer key to know the correct answers to all the questions that were in the question paper. With the help of the answer key, they can estimate their probable score. Candidates can raise objections if there is any in online mode. Students will have to pay Rs. 2000 each for rechecking of DAT prelims and Mains paper.The authorities will release final NID DAT 2020 answer key in first week of March 2020.

  • Visit the official website of NID DAT (admissions.nid.edu).
  • Click on the NID DAT 2020 answer key tab.
  • Log in by entering email address, Date of Birth, application number and verification code.

  • Click on the ‘Submit’ button.

  • You can cross-check your responses from the official answer key of NID DAT 2019 to estimate your probable score.

  • Download the answer key of NID DAT 2020 for future reference.

NID DAT Result 2020

National Institute of Design (NID) will announce the result of NID DAT 2020 (prelims) on March 19, 2020 in the form of a scorecard. The result can be checked in online mode only by logging in after entering their email ID and date of birth. Candidates can check their result by using the following steps:

  • Visit the official website of NID DAT (admissions.nid.edu).
  • Click on the result link of NID DAT 2020

  • Enter the login credentials, such as email address and date of birth

  • Enter the security code reflecting on the screen

  • NID DAT 2020 result will appear on the screen

  • Download the result and take a printout of the same

The result of NID DAT 2020 will be valid only for the academic year 2019–20.

Candidates will also be awarded ranks as per their performance. The result of the second stage- mains will be announced on May 28, 2020 in the form of final result consisting of the weighted scores of both the prelims and mains. In case of candidates scoring same marks, inter-se-merit will be implemented to resolve the tie, The higher rank will be awarded to:

  • The candidate who will obtain higher marks in Part B of the exam.

  • In case of an unresolved tie, the candidate who will obtain higher marks in Part A of the Prelims exam.

  • If this still does not resolve the tie, then both the candidates will be given the same rank

Based on the merit list of NID DAT Prelims, eligible candidates will have to appear for DAT Mains. The number of candidates shortlisted will three times the number of seats available per category in that programme.

NID DAT Merit List 2020

The final merit list of NID DAT 2020 post mains exam will be released in last week of May. It will be released category wise, based on the sum total of the weighted scores obtained by the candidate at each stage of the admission process. The tiebreaker methodology will be used in a given manner:

  • Candidates who will secure higher marks in DAT Mains will receive the higher rank.

  • Candidate who will secure higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test will be given the higher rank

  • Candidate who would get higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test Part B will be awarded the higher rank.

  • In case of an unresolved tie, the higher rank will be given to candidate who will obtain higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test Part A

  • Finally higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who will obtain higher marks in the DAT Mains exam with maximum marks.

The Bachelor of Design program at NID is of 4 years and is led at the Ahmedabad grounds. The absolute number of seats for the B . Des program including the held seats are 100. The supernumerary seats in Bachelor of plan for abroad up-and-comers is 15.

Age Limit

The upper age limit for the up-and-comers under this course is 20 years at the very latest July 30, 2020. The saved class applicants can profit an age unwinding of 3 years in the given upper age limit.

For General Category, the applicants conceived at the very latest July 1, 2000 would be ineligible.

For Reserved Category (OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PH), the applicants conceived at the very latest July 1, 1995 would be ineligible.

Is fashion communication course there in NID?

National institute of design is situated in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Bangalore. The NID situated in Ahmedabad offers B.Des video and film communication except that there is no fashion communication course in NID.
