NID DAT 2019 - National Institute of Design (NID) will release the admit card of NID DAT mains 2019 on May 1. The authorities closed the login window to submit exam preference for B.Des/GDPD DAT mains exam. Students could submit their preferences till April 9, 2019 (Till 4 pm). The authorities announced the NID DAT 2019 result for B.Des on March 20. The authorities released the updated NID DAT answer key 2019 in online mode on March 6. Earlier the authorities closed the login window to download the answer key for prelims exam part I on February 20, 2019. The authorities released NID DAT answer key 2019 for prelims exam part I on February 13. Students could login to view the answer key by entering the following - email address, date of birth and verification code. The result of NID DAT 2019 prelims and GDPD announced on March 20. The result date of NID DAT 2019 was March 19 earlier, was extended later. The qualified candidates in prelims stage will be required to appear for the mains to be held on May 12 or 19, 2019. The result for the mains exam of NID DAT 2019 will be announced on May 31. The authority successfully conducted Design Aptitude Test (DAT) 2019 on January 6 for aspirants seeking admissions in the undergraduate design programmes offered at the Ahmedabad campus. NID DAT is a 2-stage competitive exam comprising of a preliminary and the main exam. NID DAT admit card 2019 was released on December 17, 2018. Candidates had the option to edit the NID DAT 2019 application from December 1, 2018 (12:00 p.m) to December 4, 2018 (till noon). Candidates could fill the NID DAT application form by paying late fee from November 23 (from 2:00 p.m) to November 30, 2018 (till 2:00 p.m). The last date for filling the application form was extended to November 23, 2018 (2:00 p.m). Earlier the online application form of NID DAT 2019 was available from October 1 till November 15, 2018 with regular fee. NID DAT Selection Procedure 2019
NID DAT Admissions is a 2-stage process. Check the details below:
Stage 1: NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims
The first stage of DAT 2019 was held across various cities of India. Candidates should note that appearing for the DAT Prelims or being ranked in the shortlist does not guarantee automatic entitlement to admission.
Stage 2: NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Mains
This is the second and final stage of DAT. Candidates shortlisted after the first stage will have to appear for mains at one of the NID’s campuses in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru or Gandhinagar.
NID DAT admit card for mains stage will be available in online mode from May 1, 2019. NID DAT 2019 admit card will display candidature details including exam schedule, venue, and important instructions. Candidates must cross check the details printed on the NID DAT 2019 admit card for any discrepancies. If any, they should be rectified and to do so, candidates may contact the authorities. The admit card of NID DAT admission 2019 for prelims stage was available for download from December 17, 2018.

NID DAT Exam Pattern 2019 for Mains
The final stage, NID DAT 2019 mains, will comprise tests in different formats such as drawing/sketching, hands-on model making, group discussions, presentations, etc.
The language of the question paper will be English. It will be of 100 marks.
The tests will be conducted over two days - May 12 and 19, 2019.
NID DAT 2019 is a crucial exam and to crack it students need to ace their preparation. The preparation tips of NID DAT include knowing the exam pattern, prescribed syllabus. The syllabus of NID DAT 2019 released by the National Institute of Design. Candidates, who will be appearing for the entrance exam, should be aware about the NID DAT 2019 syllabus in order to have a fair idea about the topics from which questions will be asked. The different topics include colour terminology, inspiration & design development, mood, theme & colour inter-relationship, design theory, elements & principles of design, natural & geometrical form, innovation in design, principles of composition, lettering, optical illusion, ornaments & motifs, memory drawing, usage of colour in compositions, expression & emotion, etc.
NID DAT 2019 result could be checked in online mode only by logging in after entering their Email ID and date of birth. National Institute of Design (NID) declared the result of NID DAT 2019 (prelims) on March 20, in form of scores. Candidates will also be awarded ranks as per their performance. In case of candidates scoring same marks, inter-se-merit will be resolved with the higher rank being awarded to
The candidate who has obtained higher marks in Part B of the exam.
In case of an unresolved tie, the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Part A of the Prelims exam.
If this still does not resolve the tie, then both the candidates will be assigned the same rank
The number of candidates shortlisted for the NID DAT 2019 mains will be three times the seats available. Candidates had the option to apply for rechecking after the announcement of the result after announcement of the result till March 23, 2019. The result of the second stage- mains, will be announced on May 1, 2019 in the form of final result consisting of the weighted scores of both the prelims and mains. The result of NID DAT 2019 will be valid only for the academic year 2019–20. Candidates can check the result of the NID DAT mains online only.
NID DAT Merit List 2019
Preliminary Merit List of NID DAT:
A merit list will be announced at the end of the prelims and mains. Based on the scores obtained, separate NID DAT 2019 merit lists will be prepared for all the categories (Open, OBC-NCL, SC, ST & PwD). Candidates will be shortlisted for the mains on the basis of this merit list. The number of shortlisted candidates will not be less than three times the number of seats available per category in that particular discipline or programme.
NID DAT 2019 Final Merit List
The final merit list of NID DAT 2019 after the mains stage will be released on May 1. It will be generated category wise, based on the sum total of the weighted scores obtained by the candidate at each stage of the admission process. The tie breaker methodology used will be as follows in the given order:
Candidates who has obtained higher marks in DAT Main will get the higher rank.
Candidate who has obtained higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test will be given the higher rank
Candidate who has obtained higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test Part B will be awarded the higher rank.
The higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test Part A in case of a still unresolved tie.
Finally higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in the DAT Mains exam question with maximum marks.
Weightage of scores for preparation of the NID DAT 2019 Final merit list
The updated answer key was released on March 15, 2019. The authorities released final NID DAT 2019 answer key on March 6. The answer key of NID DAT 2019 was available in online mode from February 13 to 20, 2019. Candidates could check the answer key to know correct answers to all the questions that were asked in the examination. From this, they could estimate their probable score. Objections on NID DAT answer key 2019 could be filed in online mode. The authority will notify the details about 'how to submit for re-check' request later. The final answer key with corrections after considering the received objections will be notified. Students have to pay Rs. 2000 each for rechecking of DAT prelims and Mains paper.
There was change in NID DAT 2019 exam pattern. The paper was divided into two parts- Part I and Part II. Part I, which was multiple choice questions was easy as compared to part II. According to NID DAT 2019 exam analysis, candidates found the drawing section difficult as compared to multiple choice questions. Moreover, in NID DAT 2019, 70 marks were for the subjective section whereas 30 marks were allotted to the multiple choice questions.
Candidates seeking admissions to the National Institute of Design must fulfill the eligibility criteria of NID DAT 2019 before applying. The requirements can be checked below:
Aspirants up to 20 years of age on or before June 30, 2019, are eligible to apply. However, there is a relaxation of three years for those belonging to the reserved categories.
Students, who have passed or will appear for class 12 examination in any stream in the academic year 2018–19 from any recognized board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or their equivalent, can apply to appear for NID DAT 2019.
The edit window for NID DAT 2019 application form which was open from December 1, 2018 (12:00 noon onwards) closed on December 4, 2018 (12:00 p.m). Candidates had the option to register for NID DAT by paying late fees from November 23 (2:00 p.m onwards) to 30, 2018. Application form of NID DAT 2019 was available in online mode from October 1 to November 23, 2018 without any late fees. Initially, the last date for filling the online form with regular fee was November 15, 2018 and with late fee, it was November 22, 2018. The NID DAT 2019 application fee was Rs.2000 for General/OBC category candidates and Rs.1000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates. Application fees after November 23, 2018 (2 pm) was Rs 4000 for Gen/OBC and Rs 2000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates. Payment could be made online or offline. Offline payment was through DD in favour of ‘All India Management Association’ payable at New Delhi which has to be sent to the institute along with a printout of the application form.
