NID DAT 2018 - National Institute of Design conducted NID DAT 2018 for offering admissions to Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programmes on January 7, 2018 (Prelims). The four-year long design course will be offered only at NID Ahmedabad. A total of 100 seats will be allocated across eight undergraduate design programmes. Admission to all of the programmes will be granted on the basis of a two-stage competitive exam- Prelims and Mains. The objective of NID DAT 2018 is to assess the knowledge, skills and behavioural abilities of candidates. Aspirants, who have passed or will appear for higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2017–18, could apply in online mode to appear for the entrance exam. Online NID DAT 2018 applications for the academic year 2018-19 was available from September 25 to October 31, 2017. The admit card of NID DAT 2018 was released on December 20, 2017, for the candidates who had successfully submitted the application form and fee. The NID DAT Mains stage for shortlisted candidates will be conducted from May 15 to 22, 2018.

NID released Answer Key of DAT Prelims 2018 in online mode on January 12 (11 AM). Candidates could check the answer key to know correct answers to all the questions that were asked in the examination. With its help, they could estimate their probable score. Candidates could also file objections on NID DAT 2018 Answer Key on January 18 and 19 in online mode only. Further, the institute has also released final answer key for NID DAT 2018 on January 30 with corrections after considering the received objections.
NID will declare Result of DAT Prelims 2018 on March 13. The candidates’ scores will also be available for viewing at this time. Separate result score cards will not be sent individually to them.
NID DAT Merit List 2018
Based on the scores obtained in the Design Aptitude Test (DAT), separate NID DAT 2018 Merit Lists will be prepared for each category (Open, OBC-NCL, SC, ST & PwD). Based on the merit list of DAT Prelims, eligible candidates will have to appear for DAT Mains. The number of candidates shortlisted will be no less than three times the number of seats available per category in that discipline or programme.
Note: If the total scores of two or more candidates in NID DAT Prelims 2018 are the same, then they will be assigned the same rank.
The final merit lists for the B.Des. programmes will be generated category wise, based on the sum total of the weighted scores obtained by the candidate at each stage of the admission process.
NID DAT 2018 Cutoff is the qualifying score required for admissions to B. Design programme. Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of cutoff marks for each category.

Stage 1: NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims
This is the first stage and will be conducted at various test centres across India. Candidates should note that appearing for the DAT Prelims or being ranked in the shortlist does not guarantee automatic entitlement to admission.
Stage 2: NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Mains
Candidates shortlisted after the DAT Prelims will be invited to appear on the second stage at one of the NID’s campuses in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru or Gandhinagar.
National Institute of Design will conduct NID DAT 2018 Counselling in the month of June for offering admissions to 4-year Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programmes. The Institute has announced that mere appearance in the entrance test or being in the rank list will not guarantee or provide entitlement to admission.
The admit Card of NID DAT 2018 was available from December 20 (4 PM) onwards for prelims. For mains, it will be available in online mode from March 22, 2018 onwards. NID DAT 2018 admit card displays candidature details including test schedule, venue, and important instructions for the exam. Also, candidates are advised to cross-check the hall ticket before downloading it.
Candidates applying for the B.Des. programmes must fulfil the eligibility criteria of NID DAT 2018. Mentioned below are the few NID DAT eligibility criteria 2018 for candidates reference:
Aspirants up to 20 years of age on or before June 30, 2018, are eligible to apply (relaxation of three years for those belonging to reserved category).
Applicants, who have passed or will appear for higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2017–18 from any recognized board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or their equivalent, meets the NID DAT 2018 eligibility criteria.
Application Form of NID DAT 2018 was available from September 25 to October 31, 2017. Aspirants were able to fill the form in online mode only. The NID DAT 2018 application fee was Rs.2000 for General category candidates and Rs.1000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

NID DAT 2018 Exam Pattern for Prelims
The NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims 2018 primarily evaluated each candidate on the following abilities:
NID DAT 2018 Prelims consisted of two parts:
Part I: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) marked out of 70 points. The responses of this part were recorded on an OMR sheet and evaluated digitally.
Part II: Subjective questions marked out of 30 points, with responses to be provided in visual and/or written formats.
The NID DAT 2018 Prelims included an examination of three hours duration.
This was a pen-and-paper test.
The question paper was in English. All questions were compulsory.
There is no negative marking.
NID DAT 2018 Exam Pattern for Mains
DAT Mains 2018 will consist of tests in different formats such as drawing/sketching, hands-on model making, group discussions, presentations, etc.
These will be marked out of 100 points and will be conducted in English.
Question- Does NID consider the score of National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) considered for the DAT?
Answer- The NATA score is not taken into account for the Design Aptitude Test. Applicants are required to appear for the design entrance test.

Answer- Candidates will have to download the NID DAT admit card in online mode only for DAT prelims as well as mains. It is completely their responsibility to download and print it.
